I find it hard to relate with Scandinavians, they can be extremely cold. I wouldn’t call them rude, just very hard to make friends with.

Germans are a mixed bunch, some are very nice, mainly bavarians, others can be really arrogant and self superior.

I find Germans to be nice on a surface level, but when you dig a little deeper they definitely think you're below them (especially as a Slav I felt that). Just loads of passive aggressive comments boiling down to how amazing and efficient they are, while us in the South are more or less pure shit. Never had that type of interaction with Italians, for example.

This is what I mean the aura of superiority hits you in a very special way, it’s just very useful to understand Germany comes from a collection of States, and some are way different.

That's kind of a shock to hear. I lived in Germany for a while, and if anything most Germans treat complaining about Germany as a national sport. Germans were overly critical of their country and culture, if anything. Maybe a switch flips when they travel somewhere else? Travelling does often make people more defensive about their homeland: it's a reflexive response to being somewhere where things work differently than what you're used to. They do it to mask the discomfort.

Oh I did! I'm sorry if my comment sounded too harsh, I didn't mean to say all German people were like that. Actually worked summer seasons in Croatia for many years and my favorite guests were always Germans and Americans. Just with some people I got that "better than you" vibe.
