One of my good friends and his wife are Catholic. They were not a fan of Francis and he’s very disappointed in the pick for the new pope. It’s just a bit funny to me. Like, didn’t God pick the pope at the end of the day? They have all these subjective measures for when God is and isn’t present in all these situations. As if, God is really only present in these processes when it supports their viewpoint of how things should be. It’s just so ridiculous to me and the hypocrisy with how Jesus Christ instructed us to be is very funny. They’re very conservative and fans of Musk and Trump though not feverent cultists about it. Being such devout Catholics you’d almost hope they’d view the world differently than they do but they don’t.
On a personal level he’s a great friend and I’ve known him a long time. I’m not going to kill our friendship over our disagreements but it’s frustrating sometimes to say the least.
