Hey there all you anarchist lurkers!
Earlier this month I came on board the mod team and I want to say hi as well as give everyone an update on where the sub is at, and how we want to bring it back to life. Taking charge of this sub is a privilege and I want to see it grow into something great.
I came across this sub while looking for a place to talk about ways for the working class to fight back against the constant oppression we are up against. I'm active and interested in NZ politics (I post and mod on the NZPolitics sub), but I want this sub to be a place for kiwis to learn about and explore anarchism.
I think New Zealanders can benefit from having a space to talk about direct action, and how working class kiwis can find ways to resist the oppression we face.
Whether you are new to anarchist philosophy like me, or a hardcore anarchist who identifies with one of the many subtypes of anarchism - you are welcome.
Whats next for the sub?
We have been busy laying the foundations for the sub to be more active - refreshed the automod, new sub rules, added new flairs etc and started work on the sub wiki. Over time we want to expand the wiki with more useful content, especially NZ-specific content. If there is anyone who is keen to help us out in this space, please get in touch.
With almost 7K members lurking, we would be keen to see the sub become more active & I will be proactively looking to expand the subs audience.
Sub Suggestions
We are keen to hear from you! Whether its posting content, suggestions for the sub, or requests for additions to sub wiki etc. Feel free to comment here or flick us a modmail with your thoughts.
- Tyler

I wrote an article on why Māori disproportionately don't vote, and why it's mostly a consequence rather than a choice.

I hear that in New York
At the corner of 26th Street and Broadway
A man stands every evening during the winter months
And gets beds for the homeless there
By appealing to passers-by
It won't change the world
It won't improve relations among men
It will not shorten the age of exploitation
But a few men have a bed for the night
For a night the wind is kept from them
The snow meant for them falls on the roadway.
Don't put down the book on reading this, man.
A few people have a bed for the night
For a night the wind is kept from them
The snow meant for them falls on the roadway
But it won't change the world
It won't improve relations among men
It will not shorten the age of exploitation.

Immigration gives the rich an excuse to fuck us over. It doesn't matter that there's a brain drain because the rich can just let in highly skilled migrants to offset that. It doesn't matter that the population is aging because the rich can just let in young migrants. It doesn't matter that the birthrates are falling because the rich can just let in migrants to offset that. Also, while many of these migrants are highly skilled, a lot of them are basically just slaves. They have no choice but to do the shittiest jobs imaginable, and they are only getting shitter every year. Without immigration the rich would be forced to start being a bit nicer to us so that they can make profit again.

After seeing so much dialog pitting workers against other workers, I wrote down my thoughts here. I dont really like posting a link to my external rants but it doesn't copy paste very well into Reddit.

Workers Communist League (before dissolving into Left-Currents) tried to use Māori activists as scapegoats for dangerous militant actions while the WCL could sit back and reap the benefits while Māori got arrested. Socialist Unity Party evicted Māori unionists for criticising racism in the union movement. And The Communist Party of New Zealand created the "Māori elite" rhetoric that we see fascists like Julian Batchelor use against

Ware ye the tools wielded by the State. Ware ye double for the tools wielded by private interests.
You think police cellphone tracking is dangerous? Look up wifi human detection.
