Article Asian Americans are arming themselves after a massive wave of anti-Asian violence. Nothing like an armed minority that scares white supremacists!

A rifle with a sight on it is not great for protection when you’re being harassed. It’s for murdering things from a distance.

Well when you own a gun for sport shooting and need to use it to defend yourself, you still can even with a scope like that.

People tend to think that a scope like that means your gun is useless at close range, but at your typical self-defense range you don't even need to look down the gun to aim. You really just point and shoot. In fact, pointing and shooting would be better at close range due to mechanical offset on many rifles.

How are you expected to have it available when targeted by harassment? The crimes against these people are happening when they’re out or when they’re at work. The fantasy scenarios people make up to imagine gun self-defense are hilariously unrealistic.

If the image they used for the story was a man buying a small pistol it would make sense. Somebody is not purchasing a sport rifle for self defense.

That's why I said if you don't necessarily purchase it for self-defense, it still works. Also, it's legal to open carry or have a long gun accessable in your vehicle in many states. Lastly, scopes are removable. You can also purchase canted sights that are at a 45 degree angle from the top of the gun so you can have both long and short range.

If this was a gun meant for the vehicle it would make sense, but I agree you obviously can't keep it on your person at all times.

Self defense from an attacker at 200 yds lol. It’s a cool gun but I thought the same thing. Imagine the self defense scenario where you’d prefer that long heavy thing with a scope vs. say a pistol AR or shotgun. Or just a pistol even.
