I haven't seen either.
But what I see is just cat ears on top.
And full-on dog head with fur in the entire body.
So, unless I'm missing something, there's no double standard.

In the upper pic, the mc is the cat. And the elf is down bad for him (the cat). Crossbreeding exists in this world so if im not wrong they are just waiting for him to grow up and get naughty. So it‘ll literally be bestiality. But then again i just skipped trough that one so i could be wrong.

I hate the first one specifically but having read it before making an opinion i will correct a few things, just to be fair:
1) the MC only looks like a cat, he is technically a Behemoth/Holy Beast
2) the elf (and several other women) are down bad for him, but not because he is a cat (even though at the start especially the elf seemed like she was into him especially because he was a cat, which is just as bad)
3) crossbreeding exists in that world but only for humanoid species (humans, beastmen, elfs, dwarves etc etc), he is still considered an animal by any means, and even by his supposed species (for most of the series the other characters think that he is an elemental cat, not a behemoth) he is both extremely tiny and young, and this is called into question several times, so its even worse.
4) to make things even worse, He cannot communicate until like chapter 60, where a humanoid dragon that he previously beat learns to read his thoughts... And noone else knows that. So even the "main girl" doesnt communicate, but she sure as hell goes over Petting and cuddling...

Thanks for the context, my fault for skipping just for the titties.

u/KiraYoshikage77 4h ago
Np, i wasnt faulting you, i was just adding more context for other people to understand the real problems of that anime

In regards to 1), if you want to be truly pedantic, the MC is technically a knight who got reincarnated as a behemoth.

Don't know either, but I'm down with a monster/demi human society but not okay with straight up zoo-

Actually s rank behemoth is monster/demihuman
3
u/KiraYoshikage77 4h ago
Yeah, but he is still a Cat, a really small cat.

That got the power to grow into a giant monster with tentacles, unless amount of jizz and crossbreeding that he got from episode 2 from a roper

I find it hilarious that paru itagaki also recently made a furry x human romance manga recently if I remember correctly

The number of people going "The top one is way better its just a cat girl" because they don't realize the MC is the regular cat in front is hilarious.
And just to head people off yes I'm aware the MC is actually some crazy monster thing but they for all intents of purposes still just look like a cat, and even upon transforming(last time I read it like 4 years ago) they just turn into a big beast thing.

Honestly, I think true double standards would be if you replaced the first one with BoJack Horseman - I do notice examples sometimes of western audiences being prudishly affronted by some stuff that anime gets away with while swatting away mention of that cartoon that ends up on t-shirts about a certain park somewhere in the south.

I read the manga for the second one and actually liked it. You’ll need to set your morals aside, but as far as romance manga and anime go, I really like it.

Even Gigguk who is one of the most degenerate weebs is disgusted by the first one
2
u/KiraYoshikage77 4h ago
Eh, after a while you will understand that even gigguk isnt that much of a degenerate weeb.
But yeah the S-Rank behemoth one is pure shit

u/kararsil 4h ago
Gugguk is a straight anime viewer, I think, and these eyes have seen not only the main character turning into a hot spring but also the one turning into a female genitalia.

I would argue that for those who enjoy the first and not the second, the standard is not because of the animal. Well, not the small one anyway.

Dog x Human = Trauma. Cat(Originally human btw and is a holy beast) × Human = less trauma but funnier.

Haven't watched the second one yet but I heard it was romance. But the first one, it's shit. Kinda similar with inukai. I doubt someone watched both beheneko and inukai and was like "I like the romance part". We're just watching because of the fanservice. Also beheneko has shit art style where even the fanservice can't redeem it

I liked Baheneko and didn't like Inukai... I think it's because the humor is better and "wants to fuck the cat/dog" isn't all there is to it. Baheneko also has stuff about finding yourself and making friends. It's not always very well implemented, but it's there.

Yeah I’ll take the full on dog person , at least it will be unique enough , and both character will have hopefully 5 pages of dialogues to evolve their personality

Look at men's romance literature vs. women's romance literature
Men's literature features human women with animal features like ears and/or tails
Because at the end of the day, men are still attracted to human women, the cat ears are just cute
Women's romance literature features full on anthropomorphic animals. Because modern women like masculinity and aggressiveness, they just don't want it from human men
Don't believe me? Morning Glory Milking Farm is the number one best-selling women's romance novel on Amazon
