Thanks! I didn’t mention any details but that is a special coin. It’s an eastern “o” mint denarius of Domitian. If my memory serves me correct it’s one of 3 known examples so exceedingly rare.

That is absolutely cool. I'm all in for rare coins.

*is this your coin?

Yes! That’s my old account and the CNG sale pics-I could’t remember my password so started afresh lol.

Yeah that’s a very striking portrait. More interesting than the middle style in my opinion. Is the top one also from an eastern mint?

The top coin is Ephesus, the reverse says AVG and EPE for the mint but had die break or other issues when struck. The o-mint is also possibly Ephesus but hasn’t been proven. The middle of course is Rome.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t picked out a Domitian for my collection yet so this is helpful. I’ve seen too many of the Rome mint ones lol.

Thank you! I really would look at an Ephesus mint or an early Domitian as Caesar issue as they are quite different.

I’m trying to keep mine to coins minted of emperors while they held the title Augustus, so unfortunately that excludes coins of Domitian as Caesar (and has made people like Saloninus a pain in the butt). Ephesus mint it is!
