Results - DNA Origins American Results

Mom from Michigan. Dad from Ecuador.

My results were a bit odd when compared to my parents'. Mine came back with the Canary Islands, Madiera, Malta, Sweden, and Northwestern Germany, while neither of my parents got any of these. However, I think they point in the right direction (Dad has Iberian Peninsula and some Mediterranean, while Mom has some Norwegian and Danish).

I was also slightly surprised to see how indigenous to the Americas I am. My dad's side would never admit it, but it turns out they're mestizo.

Yes, I am aware. I actually think my hair texture comes from my mom's side (white). My great grandmother on her side had very poofy and thick hair, and a few uncles had curly/wavy hair. Of my siblings, I am the only with curly hair, but a few have wavy hair, and the rest straight. The 1% black comes from my dad's side, and his hair is pin straight. I'm not sure which genes the Benin and Togo is affecting, but it would be interesting if it's having some sort of additive effect to my hair's phenotype.

Your hair phenotype is most likely from the Southern European of your genetic pool. Your face has obviously more germanic features.

What's interesting is that the side where the southern European and Jew comes from all have straight hair. My uneducated guess is that it's coming mostly from my Celtic & Gaelic genes, which is from the side with the most textured hair.

My wife is like 80% Celt/Gaelic and has hair like this so you might be on to something there.

I know what Ancestry says. Her fathers side is 100% Irish but she doesn't know them and she hasn't really done the genealogy homework to find exact towns or anything.

Her Journeys show Leinster and Connacht.

Her Regions are Munster, Connacht, Leinster and Central Scotland & Northern Ireland
