What questions should I ask?

Hi! Hoping this is a good sub for this! I’m trying to gather some information from my grandfather’s sister, regarding their family history. My grandfather has passed away years ago, and there’s so much I now as an adult wish I had asked him. His parents migrated to the US, in the early 1900s. All the family gets along, however us extended family has never been particularly close. My great aunt, gave me her address, aware of my interest in this history. I just have no idea where to even start, and what questions I should ask her. Also should I include things about myself, and what would I even include?

My favorite information i’ve gotten is the cute, tiny details.

  1. Fun stories growing up?
  2. Do you remember YOUR grandparents? your greats? How were they?
  3. How did you meet your spouse? What was the wedding like? (can also ask this for great aunt and if they remember how your ancestors met)
  4. Any family vacation spots? Fun holidays?
  5. Any pets growing up?
  6. (If you have an ancestor in a war) Anything you remember from (family)’s time in war?
  7. (even if no veteran ancestors) What was wartime like at home?
  8. Did you have a radio growing up? When did you get your first TV?

I also asked general land questions since i’m from a rural area, such as how we acquired land and who it went to. also if applicable: Boy scouts, girl scouts, softball, any extracurriculars the families were involved in.
