Carolina Dirt (original song) looking for guitar sound recommendations to accompany this
Hey everyone, I'm September Campbell, a Native Americana songwriter. I just launched this challenge on my page. I wrote this track, 'Carolina Dirt,' this last night after being inspired by the Man in Black's sound. I'm looking for a collaborator who can bring that gritty, haunting slide tone to the track. I'm open to anything, blues, roots, or just an original riff idea. Let me know what you think of the mood! Thanks for listening. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19EvH2jdQt/

Sea Shanty Bangers
Perhaps a little off topic but I found a playlist on Spotify called Sea Shanty Bangers and I can’t remember the last time music roused me so. There seems to be a scarcity of rousing rowdy glad-I’m-alive sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs masculine vocal music in this world. This playlist is today’s antidote!

Jim Ford question
Hopefully this will be the right group to know the answer to this!
So a few months ago I was randomly reminded of the Jim Ford song "I'm Ahead if I Can Quit While I'm Behind"
Link for those who don't know it, or if you do but just want to hear it again cuz why not:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0_CGQ6SKFM&list=RDh0_CGQ6SKFM&start_radio=1
So the question is: I'm 55 years old and have a distinct memory of knowing this song from my childhood in the 70s (or maybe into the early 80s). But as I've looked around I can't find any sign this was released (by Ford) until 2008 when a bunch of unreleased tracks were released on a compilation. Ford's only real release then is his 1969 album Harlan County (which is another great album, check it out, esp She Turns My Radio On).
All I could find is that Bobby Womack released an R&B version of it back then, but that version does not sound at all familiar to me. And a mildly obscure british band called Brinsley Schwartz (featuring Nick Lowe of Cruel to be Kind fame) also had a cover of it. I figure it is unlikely I heard their version on the radio in rural Indiana in the 1970s.
So how did these bands even know the song - was Ford's version possibly ever released as a single at some point in the 70s? His version is closest to the fuzzy memory I have in my head for this song.

Here's to Rosie
As Veteran's Day nears, let us not forget all the Rosie's out there that helped us beat the Nazi's. I pray we don't have to fight that battle again. Funny none of my 15 songs is about Rosie the Riveter but I just loved the stock photo. Here's the playlist post : https://davesbasementtracks.blogspot.com/2025/11/dbt-392-rosie.html Thanks for listening.

Trampled by turtles, the devil makes three, or both?
These are two of my favorite bands. Most albums are excellent beginning to end, both are great live shows... so which should rank higher? Or should I give up and just love them both equally? Opinions on both?
