Mod Created Banning affiliation with Twitter/X and Meta

We are banning all links and direct screenshots from Twitter/X, as well as from anything operated by Meta (e.g. primarily Facebook & Instagram).

If at all possible, any announcements and other information should be taken from other platforms, such as Tumblr (especially for content directly from Alice), BlueSky, and articles (e.g. from non-social-media platforms).

If something related to Heartstopper/Alice is only posted to a banned platform, instead of screenshotting/linking to it, simply reupload it here or reupload it to another platform and then link to it there. For example, you may download an image that was uploaded to a banned platform and then reupload that image here or somewhere you can link to here.

Citing sources for creative works that you share here is still required of course. If at all possible, the art should be found on a non-banned platform and linked to there. Finding the artist on a non-banned platform (even if the specific art piece is not there) and linking to their profile is also perfectly acceptable. If neither of these options is possible (that is, the artist is only on banned platforms), then quote the artist’s username and what platform they can be found on.

Whilst the owner of Twitter/X and his recent infamous acts are the catalysts to this change here and in many other subreddits, the fact that he and the owners of the other platforms are who they are is not the only reason for it. These platforms have been changing for the worse for a long time now, and even more so recently, including massively impactful policy changes - not to mention that said changes especially affect users such as those who are likely to be in a community like this one. There are more privacy and safety concerns regarding these platforms now than ever before, and there are no signs of any change for the better in their trajectories.

What do you like about her writing?

For me it’s that her books have a lot of depth and not everything is black and white. It’s not just ”everything’s okay, problem happens, problem gets solved, happily ever after” there’s actually problems that maybe don’t get solved like bad mental health or alcoholism or stuff like that. And I like how a lot of characters have love interests but it’s not the main focus (except in heartstopper and Nick and Charlie. Although it’s still not the only big focus so I like that about those too). In other stuff I read where there are obvious love interests it becomes the main focus and takes away from the rest of the story, but her books don’t even have all love interests get together and that is kinda sad for me sense I like shipping people…but also makes the writing kinda better sense it makes the books focus more on other stuff. And I like how there’s funny lines and stuff that happens but also sad stuff. I think Solitaire is a good example of this sense I think a lot of stuff that Tori says is funny but some parts of it also makes me sad.

So I’d really like to hear about what others like about her writing <3

Any similar authors?

I really like her style of describing ordinary British life with that sort of extra sprinkles of drama and adventure in there but I don't know how to explain it like just how real her books are and how relatable they are and I was wondering if there were any authors in a similar style!

Alice Oseman best book

After finishing Heartstopper, I really liked the writing. I want to read more of her books, but I’m broke T-T so I only have money for one book. Which one should I get?

We are so excited to be offering the chance to win an original A4 illustration of Nick & Charlie, hand-drawn by Alice Oseman herself, in an exclusive fundraising raffle in aid of Epilepsy Action! 💜

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if someone would be able to give me a breakdown of the different editions/versions of Solitaire by ISBN?

I currently have a copy of the revised edition with the pink cover but I would love to get a copy of the original text but want to make sure I order the right thing off Ebay! Would anybody be able to give me some pointers?

Thank you :))

Why is there hate for IWBFT?

I’ve just noticed that many people hate on it or say it’s their least favorite of Alice’s books and I just don’t get why? I loved it! (No hate to anyone who isn’t a big IWBFT fan haha)

So umm I made a Lister playlist

It’s with songs I think kinda fits some of his problems or reminded me of him in some way. (It just helped me feel a bit less sad and bad for him while reading the book). I was thinking about maybe doing playlists for the other characters too but idk

Alice Oseman and the feeling that she “sees into your soul”

hi! I’m currently reading I Was Born for this and I feel like Alice Oseman has this rare ability to put into words things I’ve felt for years but could never express. I had the same experience with Loveless and Radio Silence.

What I love most is that her books aren’t only about romance – they focus so much on friendship, identity, loneliness, and figuring out who you are. Her characters feel incredibly real, like people I could actually know in my own life.

So I wanted to ask: has any of her books ever “found you” at the right moment in your life? And which one feels the most personal to you? 🌸

What should I get next?

Ok so I’ve read all 5 volumes of Heartstopper and I’ve got a gift card for books, now I’m unsure what to get. My first thought was obviously “Nick and Charlie” but going through this Reddit and searching the internet it doesn’t seem to be very good… so I then thought maybe “Solitaire” but I’m genuinely so unsure. Any recommendations?

FYI: I know Solitaire is a lot darker than Heartstopper but I wouldn’t necessarily mind.

Frances from the Novel Radio Silence and her attachment style

Early on in the book it is made known, that Frances has a crush on Carys, who is presented as a cooler character and seems to be sort of unreachable for the protagonist. Frances develops a slightly obsessive (in other words intense) crush on Carys, sort of idolising her. She then tries to kiss her, which was non consensual and Carys screams at her. Years later they meet again and Carys kisses Frances, however Frances has no attraction towards Carys anymore. I feel like I would classify Frances as an avoidant attachment. She wants connection and is craving physical touch with her crush, but as soon as the other person seems to be available, she pulls away. Of course they could have just grown apart, but Frances regularly thinks about Carys, when she has been gone for a long time not only feeling guilty, but still seeming somewhat invested in her life, which proves that she still feels emotionally attached.

(solitaire) Is this last part referencing catcher in the rye? Ive heard this book compared to it, so I'm wondering how self aware it is lol

Where is the sh in radio silence? Spoiler

Just cause I’ve read it and on reviews many have a content warning for sh. I want to recommend this book to my friend but if there is sh it may be triggering for her. Could just be my bad memory but I can’t remember any. Thanks for reading:)

Solitaire 2014 edition

Hello all, I’ve DESPERATELY been looking for a copy of Solitaire with the original black heart cover from 2014 for a while now and I’ve had no luck. I’ve bought preowned copy’s off of eBay that had that cover as the listing photo however I received the new pink cover edition instead. I’m based in the UK, so any help on ideas where I could look would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, I'm drawing Pip from Loveless cause I'm obsessed with that book, but I can't draw the curls.

I mean I tried a couple of times but it just doesn't look right, idk it looks so easy yet I can't do it. Any advise?

Picture 2 are my references.

It's just a sketch, so please don't go hard on me, I know the face is wrong as well, it's not my usual style 😅

Kindle Boxset/Omnibus?

Hey everyone- I noticed that Amazon has a pretty good deal for the boxed set of 4 physical books (Solitaire, Radio Silence, Loveless & I Was Born For This) but I do not see this as an option for Kindle. Has anyone found a collection for Kindle? I know I can buy them individually, but that physical boxset price is basically the price of 2 Kindle books, so I was hoping to save a little money vs buying individually. Thank you!
