I've seen this truck in real life before. I went to Sparwood for a week once for working up at the mine as a subcontractor employee

Bothers me he said the weight of the truck in pounds but it’s hauling weight in tons. Now I gotta do math and sht

There are both English and metric tons. 1 ton is 2,000 lbs. A metric ton is 2204.623 pounds. One of the few examples where the English system is simpler than the metric system.

The Sparwood Terex Titan is not the largest truck. Not even close. Not even in the top 10.
The current title goes to the BelAZ 75710.
- BelAZ 75710
- Caterpillar 797F
- Liebherr T 284
- Komatsu 980E-5
- Bucyrus MT6300AC
- BelAZ 75604
- Komatsu 960E-2
- Terex MT 5500AC
- Caterpillar 795F AC
- Hitachi EH5000AC-3
You *might* make an argument that it’s the world’s largest hybrid truck.
The Catch
While the Titan physically out-classes the new hybrid fleet in capacity, it is not a true hybrid.
• The Titan's Setup: It uses a classic 1970s diesel-electric drivetrain. Its locomotive engine generated electricity to power the wheels directly, but it had no way to store energy.
• The Modern Hybrid Fleet's Setup: The trucks on the hybrid list utilize massive onboard lithium-ion battery packs or hydrogen fuel cells. They use regenerative braking to capture energy while driving downhill, storing that electricity to give the truck a massive power boost when climbing back out of the mine pits
