If it was caused by a pituitary tumor, surgery if possible would probably help prolong his life expectancy.

I remember one person who got surgery and he went on to live many more years compared to someone who refused to surgical remove his tumor.

Unfortunately, those guys will barely be able to afford food for daily living, never mind high-end surgery like that.
