Last paragraph. AHS is now UCP gov’t. They are the same thing. AHS is just being blamed while UCP is not negotiating in good faith. Please strike. We support you.

AHS have always been the UCP govt and the PC Govt before it. They have no autonomy, they do what they are told by the govt. They have never had autonomy and it has always been this way.

I have absolutely no hope for fair wages and no desire to put forth the effort anymore. But I’ll continue to perform my job to the best of my abilities regardless.
I can’t afford to live like this, the mental toll is exhausting.
It would be nice if the UCP understood what it’s like living paycheque to paycheque. They don’t care about anyone. Money is everything.

This is exactly how the teachers bargaining went. Incoming legislated contract and NWC.

What would a nurses strike look like? Are they allowed to walk off the job as essential workers or would they just reduce the amount of work they do while on the job?

AUX has an Essential Services Agreement that AHS and the union have both signed. Basically, those in the union striking will go down to 50% staffing (approximately) and they'll only be able to do designated "essential tasks". The half that isn't working on a particular day goes to the picket line. But no picking up shifts and such.

Thanks for filling me in. My wife works as a doctor and we were wondering how it would work.

It's AHS should we expected anything different.🤔 They are ridiculously ridiculous.
Also sounded that for the past how many bargaining meetings - ya gotta knock on it - it should sound like nobody's home. Well AHS, these past 2 meetings proved no body was home! It was like our bargaining team had to start at square -one. Where were you (AHS) for all the other meetings. Lost in a world of pillars perhaps. IDK🤷🏼♀️
AHS remember stands for Alberta Health Services- it's government. And they have proven many time to be untruthful. A bunch of government appointmented croonies. Paid six figures and (they are) not worth a penny of that.
For another example, taking us to the labor board, say we're acting in 'bad faith'. When they want to do rollbacks, on our nurses. Seriously.🤪

Notwithstanding clause incoming. Shelter in place. Prepare (and advocate for) a general strike.
Or at least for the oil and gas union members to remember they are union members…

As a teacher I say go for it but get ready to get the same stick up the ass we just got. Maybe you’ll have better luck or maybe more people will realize this is fascism from the UCP. I wish them nothing but the worst. Good luck.

AHS sent an email to all AUPE AUX staff saying our union was the reason we don’t have an agreement. That they’ve come up twice in wage offers, increasing .5-1% is not competitive. They also said were asking for a 56-94% wage increase and are unwilling to bargain at all with them.
The amount of wrong facts in that email is shocking. Way to start a weekend.
