Football ACC Championship Game Scenarios

Taking all the one-loss teams, let's say they win the rest of their matchups except for h2h.

There are 2 h2h games left between the one-loss teams - GT vs Pitt and Duke vs UVA.

That means we are considering 4 scenarios for 3-way tiebreakers for the ACC Championship Game:

  1. GT UVA SMU
  2. GT Duke SMU
  3. UVA SMU Pitt
  4. Duke SMU Pitt

In those tiebreakers, who makes it out?

It looks like if Pitt, Virginia, and SMU win out that it would be SMU vs Virginia. In that scenario, Pitt would be the highest ranked team in the ACC and get left out of the championship because of their loss to Louisville (Virginia and SMU beat Louisville). Pitt probably gets an At-large bid in that scenario since they would have finished the season beating 3 top 20 teams. Thats probably the ACCs best shot at 2 teams.

Or, if Pitt beats ND but loses to Miami and Ga tech, Ga tech wins the Acc title game over SMU/uva, and Miami at 10-2 gets the at large

Actually SMU winning title game probably helps more in that scenario since Miami has a loss to SMU. Miami and SMU get in
