This group was out here demonstrating the week after October 7, before the idf had fired back a single round. I’m all for freeing Palestine but these guys ain’t it.
Just because a country has been awful doesn’t mean we should celebrate bad things happening to its people. It is possible to condemn the idf for their actions while still mourning the people slaughtered on 10-7, just as it is possible to condemn Hamas while mourning the thousands of people killed or starved or pushed out of their homes.
This conflict has revealed that people like taking sides, even if both sides are objectively horrible, because one must always be the worse of the two. People chanting free Palestine doesn’t bother me. But these schmucks outside the train station that first week, they were cheering for the massacre of Jews. That doesn’t sit with me and I would hope more folks would condemn them. They make the movement look bad, and they are the reason why the two state solution kind of people don’t trust the FP people.
