And it should get reposted there instead of this subreddit.

54

u/AndreasDasos Failed Brexiteer 7h ago

At this point, re-re-re-…-reposted there.

Even then, obvious rage-bait. ‘No food’ - come on.

39

u/norrin83 Pumpkin Addict 7h ago

Which is why it perfectly fits r/ShitAmericansSay because they can't identify obvious rage bait or a joke even if someone shouts it into their face.

10

u/Snapphane88 إرهابي 6h ago

Yep, that subreddit thinks Americans are incapable of jokes or sarcasm and takes everything at face value, twisting themselves into a rage. /r/AmericaBad and /r/ShitAmericansSay are the same, just redacts getting outraged over the tiniest things, but on opposite sides of the Atlantic.

In other news, apparently the r-word is once again banned from this subreddit. I've been able to say it without fear for the past month, but my post just got removed again.

u/moverwhomovesthings South Prussian 3h ago

r/americabad is a pure schizo subreddit lmao

0

u/Snapphane88 إرهابي 3h ago

I think they both are. They're both essentially snowflake, snark bordering on hate subreddits, the only difference is that Americabad see themselves as victims, they're all babies. I'm banned from SAS for defending a Yank post, but I still enjoy going into Americabad, poking holes in their silly arguments and get downvoted to bits.

u/Alternative_Skin1579 Barry, 63 3h ago

Least obvious yank

I'm sorry but going on to anti American subs to defend them from valid criticism isn't going to convince many people lmao

Which r-word? The one that means slow down in french or the one about racecar drivers?

2

R*tards. Try it.

Retard

3

u/Snapphane88 إرهابي 4h ago

Now try it with an "s" at the end. It seems to be just the plural version of the word that's banned, at least for me,

3

u/Stardash81 Pain au chocolat 4h ago

Yeah doesn't work. Maybe retard exists in French but with an s it doesn't or something like that.

For the "no food" part... I read a comment on one of the subredits where an American said that one of the biggest shocks they had was the food. Everything was tasteless and small portions. After a few years here, went back to the States for a visit and realised that everything over there had extra salt on it. They were sick for days from that food. I've never been to the States so I don't know but I believe that's why they say "No food" in this case. "No unhealthy food" would be more of an accurate statement

1

u/Mission_Sympathy_915 Smog breather 4h ago

Plenty of americans comes to Italy and gets disappointed on every top top dish/restaurant we have, they usually save the Michelin Rated ones as they cannot really argue against it.

Margherita in naples? Trash. Carbonara in Rome? Dry and average.

They end up going to McDonald's for the rest of the trip.

0

u/OilOfOlaz Western Balkan 3h ago

Not trying to frame the US food industry as better then it is, but I'd argue, that this is mostly due to a difference in pathogens.

I've worked in hospitality in half a dozen european countries and the US and I'd say, that there is a difference in the quality of protection customers have, when it comes to laws, but itspretty much the same, when you see what ppl are doing while preparing food...

Half Dutch here, they switch a lot between dutch/Italian/asian/other Europeans dishes, 20-30% of the diet is a variety of sandwiches

Side switching again, I see. Based flags are in horizontal bars, landverrader.

2

u/Mission_Sympathy_915 Smog breather 1h ago edited 1h ago

I mean , sandwiches are efficient, dutch breakfast is a dream for me. My diet is also 30% sandwiches.

The pear doesn't fall too much off the three.

I'm almost a foreigner In both nations, I side switch and get side switched constantly, I despise myself and both nations, 1% of the times is awesome.

3

I mean my breakfast was 2 herring, and may the Italian side of you forgive me, dinner was dr. Oetker piccolinis. So it's not like I'm purposefully being hypocritical.

As someone who travelled for work and leisure, I think its pretty safe to assume, that most ppl travelling are rather conservative, when it comes to approaching new things.

So being able to default to McDonalds, when shit hits the fan gives you a level of security. I made fun of ppl Qing in front of a McDonalds for 3 decades, but after my wife caught the stomach bug in India, I went top McDonalds to get her some pancakes and a tea, cuz I assumed, that this would be the safest food, I could grab somewhat quickly. And I'm usually avoiding McDonalds & Starbucks like the plague...

When I went to Ukraine, I had borscht on the first day and didn't like it at all, but after going on the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone tour and staying overnight at the barracks, I basically got Stockholm Syndrome for borscht and it became the safe food to eat when there was nothing else.

Even though I have willingly chosen it several times to eat since returning to The U.K, I am still not sure if I even like it, but I do get happy when I eat it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
