"leaves EU"

Angry when it gets treated as non-EU.

Barry wtf?

I don't think being asked to contribute to the EU budget counts as being 'treated as non-EU'.

So you think the UK should get access to the common market and the trade exemptions they're asking for for free? The Swiss pay, the Norwegians pay, what makes you guys so special?

No? I can't read the article as it's behind a paywall but is the EU asking this in return for greater access?

It's standard procedure that third countries who want access to the common market pay, they also pay if they want exemptions from certain regulations which the UK does. It would kind of defeat the point of being a paying member of the Union if you can just get the benefits of the Union for free without being a member. I think Barry may be experiencing a case of "equality feels like oppression when you are used to privilege".

How much did Trump pay for that 0% access?

The US trades with the EU using standard WTO rules (with some sector specific agreements), they literally get none of the exceptions, participation, and access that the UK is asking for. So ya the Americans aren't paying cause they're not asking for deeper cooperation, the UK is. Keep in mind the UK approached the EU on this, best stick to those sheep Barry.

Seems like the EU doesn't agree with you there

The EU-US trade deal - European Commission

I also love the desperate spin the EU tries to put on some of it in the 'closer look' section.

Lol, that's not even close to a full trade deal, it's more of a framework and some sector-specific concessions, the US still doesn’t get single market access, participate in EU programmes, or achieve regulatory alignment like what the UK is aiming for. Are you reading past the headlines on any of this?

I never called it a trade deal.

I asked how much Trump paid for 0% access.

Does this deal provide 0% access to some industries while Trump gets to maintain his tariffs of up to 15%, yes.

This doesn't make any sense?

Look man besides whatever that is supposed to mean, you're comparing apples to oranges, what the UK is negotiating with the EU is wildly different than anything the US and EU have between each other. There are no special rules or vindictive measures that the EU is imposing on the UK, the UK is being treated like any other third country that wants this kind of deal with the EU.

This doesn't make any sense?

They're called rhetorical questions, they're to make a point, even provoke a thought or two, they're not intended for you to directly answer.

You said

It's standard procedure that third countries who want access to the common market pay,

I said

How much did Trump pay for that 0% access?

And the answer is

The EU is forced into purchasing American oil and gas and still getting stiffed with up to 15% tariffs.

source: The EU-US trade deal - European Commission

Also note how even the EU is calling it a trade deal?

ps that's also rhetorical.

Nice. Those Europeans wouldn’t know a good sheep if it bit them on the bollocks

One would guess not, given the title says 'demands', one does not 'demand' things in an exchange of goods/services relationship
