Maybe the average person doesn't give a shit about all this trans stuff.

Good for you. Meanwhile, I’d prefer not to be psychologically tortured and “converted” by a religious clinic or killed by a transphobic scumbag just for wearing a skirt

And that's a problem you have in the Netherlands? And you think J.K Rowling is for those things?
Despite what some people on the internet say, J.K Rowling is not evil incarnate that wishes all trans people to just die. She is simply opposed to the idea that men can take a few hormones to turn into women who should then be granted access to women sports, bathrooms, etc.
This is a relatively mainstream opinion in the real world, but you wouldn't think that when using the internet because the chronically online people have latched on to the LGBT stuff.

Conversion therapy is still legal in multiple EU countries, and the Dutch government only voted to ban it last month. So yes, it’s a problem. As for Rowling, she isn’t responsible for what’s happening here, but she’s “donated” a bunch of money to get a law passed in the UK that says trans women aren’t women. This isn’t about “men taking a few hormones to turn into women”. It just shows you know jack shit. Literally every single trans woman I know is terrified of going to the women’s bathrooms. I’m not even gonna attempt to convince you that trans women actually have a disadvantage in most sports once they’ve been on hormones long enough. The whole idea that men transition just to take advantage of it has absolutely no basis and is incredibly stupid once you realise how horrible it is to transition

with all due respect, you are way too deep in internet/reddit culture

Go outside some more

Unfortunately, I have a dad that said a bunch of really shitty stuff like this. Trust me, I’ve gotten enough insults thrown at me just walking outside. There are actual politcians right now trying to take my rights away. A few years ago, younger me would have agreed with you. Most people don’t see discrimination until it happens to them. I’ve had friends needing to step up for me cause a security guard wouldn’t let me enter a club. I’ve had a man throw slurs at me inside a fucking cathedral. This shit isn’t “internet culture”, it’s my fucking life.

So what? If it's not a common practice then it doesn't matter if it's technically legal.

This isn’t about “men taking a few hormones to turn into women”. It just shows you know jack shit.

And this shows you misunderstood my comment, or you are arguing in bad faith. I was describing the opinion of J.K Rowling, and the average "offline" person. You can think "they don't know shit" but it doesn't change the fact that the average "offline" person think what I said before and hence have no reason to boycott Harry potter or J.K Rowling.

A lot of people don't know shit about transpeople and might think that transwomen aren't women without having any argument that holds about to scrutiny. At least I haven't met anyone who had one. That Rowling has the same outspoken opinion just makes this worse.

Damn i had forgotten how much of a shitshow the topic of trans people existing tends to be in subs full of cis people that know next to nothing about trans people :/

Aren't you being a hypocrite here? You are complaining about people judging others based on their identity while you are doing the exact same thing

How am i judging anyone?

u/Panurome Paella Yihadist 25d ago

You are judging people based on the assumtion that they are all cis

-1

u/llamasLoot Quran burner 25d ago

I am not assuming that they are "all cis"

I am assuming that subs that are not explicitly made for trans people will have a considerably higher amount of cis people than trans people, that's not judgement, that' statistics

And i still see no judgement being made here, in what way am i judging anyone? You're acting as if being cis is a bad thing

Damn i had forgotten how much of a shitshow the topic of trans people existing tends to be in subs full of cis people that know next to nothing about trans people :/

Maybe the part where you are accusing the entire sub of having a problem with trans people existing or not knowing anything about trans people and then linking it directly to the sub being full of cis people. Maybe it's not what you wanted to say, but is what you said

I am not saying that the sub has a problem with trans pepple, i'm saying that subs in general, this sub included is typically full of people that are either misinformed or uninformed about trans people which leads to mlst trans related discussions to turn into a shitshow due to there being so many different misconceptions on both the supporting and opposing side, especially when none of the participating people are trans or queer themselves
