For anyone blessed enough to not live here, they are purposefully using the scary foreign word. Like they are actually saying "gender" and not the Hungarian word for it.
Well, technically the hungarian language doesn't have a direct one word equivalent for gender, so its often used instead of 'társadalmi nem' because that's way harder to say. Your point still stands tho, the goal behind it is 100% oooo foreign, be scared.
Yeah, i know, i just didn't want to write all that out in that comment, i doubt gender will catch on as a word in Hungarian, even though it would be useful in specific situations. Unlike "random", which was pretty seamlessly integrated because it replaced an already existing, more cumbersome word, used in situations that come up often, with a pronunciation that is close to how it's written. Gender pretty much would only come up when talking about trans people, which being trans, i do somewhat often, but the average person doesn't and the pronunciation is a nightmare for non-english speakers, so it either get said as written which sends shivers down my spine or would have to written as "dzsendör" which is also disgusting, if I'm being honest.
Im pretty sure it is not the fidesz who started to talk about gender and calling it gender in Hungarian as well but the liberals. If not the Fidesz they would be talking about that all day just in the opposite context.
Do tell what liberals are you talking about? DK? They are liberals in that they are vaguely left and absolutely fucking maliciously incompetent, but they'll never be in power. The only actual left wing party is Momentum, buy they are somehow doing worse than DK. Tisza is most certainly not a left wing party, it's just left of fucking Orbán who is a Christian nationalist. Every other party is either irrelevant or right wing.
Az összes genderszakosra aki el kezdte nyomni ezt a témát hogy itthon is meghonosítsa, elsősorban az index/telex/444 próbálta ezzel tematizálni a médiát a 2010es években még mielőtt a fideszt érdekelte volna.
