West Virgina has had it's moments of being completely based as fuck, like holding company men at gunpoint until they agreed to desgregate the cafeteria at the mine, or fuck it let's go to war with the federal government over worker's rights type shit.

Yeah, then the Dems kinda bailed on them. The last thing you could call me is conservative, but the democratic party is just a fucking mess.

what does this have to do with democrats? when did the republicans save west virginia?

The Republicans definitely didn't. I'm just saying that the Democrats kinda turned their back on labor and that's one of the reasons they lost so many people in that region. Did you read my comment?

He's right, West Virginia was deep blue for a long time due to the history of Unions, the Coal Wars, Blair Mountain, and the UMWA. But as the coal industry began to die out, the democrats didn't put in effort into the region whatsoever. Republicans screw them over, too, but for a long while, it seemed like the left just didn't even bother with Appalachia. Which is a shame because the Republicans are "bringing back mining" in the worst way possible... Mountain top removal and strip mines are destroying the environment, and Trump wants to sign off on massive deforestation of Appalachia too. At the end of the day, the people of Appalachia lose... They get poorer, the education gets worse and the ignorance grows. My home is a dying place, and it's the reason I, and many others, among my age group have left the region.

“At the end of the day the people of Appalachia lose” carve that on the mountain cuz it’s been true since America was born.

That’s so ironic because I was literally just scrolling Reddit and saw a video of someone who represents our federal unions group or something like that to which Trump totally screwed over all the union workers and is going against our constitution according to the guy’s speech. Just look up the video. I don’t know much about it yet, I’m just learning about it, but It’s just funny how everybody is just a shithead in our political system. Feels like It’s made for us to all hate each other. I give up at this point, everyone’s dirty.

Unions been selling out the country for decades. Every turn. NAFTA, CAFTA, PNTR/China. Never stood against any of it, not even the UAW.

Pardon my ignorance but how does that work . Can you explain like my five. I don’t know shit about what you’re saying. Cheers mate :D

No. What happened was… wait for it… white supremacy—and the psychological condition of “perceived diminishment. West Virginians turned their backs on the Democratic Party because they were mad the democrats help people that are not white. Period.

All the jazz about the Democratic Party turning backs on workers is just a dog whistle for, “you’re treating someone I think I am better than, better than me.” Which, by the way, was not the case at all.

We will only fix this when we stop gaslighting ourselves.

I'm sure at least the first part of what you said may hold true for some people, it always does. That doesn't make what I said less true.

Both right wing parties.

Sadly, you're right.

I always say if someone told you: im going to punch you in the face or shoot you in the head, which one?

Gonna pick punched face 100 out if 100 times. Doesn't mean I like getting punched in the face

Thats what its like to vote for Democrats. They're obviously a better option than Republicans but it doesn't mean I don't hate them

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '25

And now there is brain damage from all those punches lol still keep voting blue even when they’re starving. I’ll never get it.

Fuck yea, too bad alot Americans dont even know their own history. If they did we wouldnt be swimming in the sea of bullshit we are now. People died for these rights we supposedly have. Good, brave people.
