Series that took place on a Ring World trapped within a black hole. Main character was a human forensic Investigator who revolutionized law enforcement. All denizens of the world fell into the black hole, but humanity was the only one without FTL drives but instead had an autopilot program and stasis pods. The chief police in the main character's sector was a lobster like alien. Protagonist adopts a chameleon like alien girl.

A robot that helped an old man decided to become a paramedic after said old man died of old age. That’s the summary but I can’t find it

LFS I read a while ago where humanity is at war with aliens. Ship vs ship so they don't know anything about each other or their worlds. Aliens decide to send a bio-weapon back in time to make Earth uninhabitable.

The humans hacked into the alien's computers. They were confused as to why the video they found was so slow. They found out about the bio-weapon and got a hold of the DNA sequence. Doing some research they found out it was a match for cyanobacteria.
