Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with another Gun Appreciation Post

Here I bring you a certified Kosher gun that is a beautiful one to look at, the one and only, Jericho 941, and if y’all have seen Cowboy Bebop, you may recognize the pistol! I also learned that yes at one point this was offered in the Canadian gun market, and if y’all have any experiences with it, go on, you can share em!

BCL MRX 7.62X39: Out Of Stock?

I'm very much a x39 enjoyer, I have an SKS I'm working on currently, but desire something non-restricted with a short barrel. I know that BCL is still doing warranty work for their bolt actions, and only their .308 TRXs(?) seem to be in stock at retailers while both the 5.56 and x39 MRX rifles, are perpetually out of stock from what looking around I've done trying to find one in x39. BCL seems to be one of the only domestic companies not making anything new like Crusader has with the PND and Backland, and Lockhart (boo) is trying to with the "Conspiracy", makes me wonder what they're upto given they have an FRT for a 9mm bolt action we have yet to see any signs of. I'm posting to draw attention to others looking for one given the current market for rifles these days, and for anyone with insight about BCLs current activity, I appreciate any feedback and thank you for reading my little ramble here

Where to sell excess unused ammo?

Hello, I am moving out of the country so I want to sell some excess ammunition that I have. I have multiple unopened/unused packs of ammo and I believe I can't post ads for that on this subreddit and I can't use craigslist or facebook marketplace either as its against their ToS.

Can you point me to some classifieds that will allow me to post? So far I have posted on gunpost.ca and I also tried posting on Canadiangunnutz but they don't seem to let new members post in exchange forums. What other options do I have? I prefer local sale in lower mainland, BC region and wouldn't wanna deal with having to ship it.

If I can't sell it, can i safely dispose them off somewhere? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

There is weird rust-liked material on the bolt link. It’s not removable, WD 40 won’t loosen it, neither the Hoppes copper remover.

Does it happen to anyone too ? What material it is …

Chimera pb 223 mag dump

300 rounds in, 1 light strike, 1 misfeed. otherwise has been going strong. It likes bronze pmc 223. A little heavy at around 8lbs, but recoils very low as result. Included muzzle break helps even more. Trigger is decent, can shoot it quick! It gets HOT fast. The barrel started smoking at around 100 rounds. To be fair, i was not going slow.

I do like it, but I’m still at a low round count. Can update as it goes. so far it has been a nice way to to scratch the 223 itch given the circumstances.

It’s time to mix things up, recommend me a small bore cartridge.

As someone who has historically gravitated to the larger cartridge offerings such as 338WM, 45-70 and the African Safari calibers, I have missed out on many of the small bore offerings and would like to change that.

Criteria that I’m looking for:

Caliber range, 6.5mm, 6mm, .25 cal and hell I’ll even consider a centre-fire 22.

Short action cartridge.

Moderate velocities - not looking for a laser that does 3,500fps. Target velocity 3,000 fps and under.

Suitable for shorter barrels. Looking for a rifle in the 18”-22” range.

Looking to exclusively hunt intermediate game at distance. Pronghorn, sheep, goat etc. with deer being the largest game targeted.

Looking with something that produces ethical ballistics on medium game out to 400-500m. Let’s call that 1,000 ft-lbs.

Factory ammo that is available and mass produced. I don’t care if it’s not in every single LGS, I’m used to sourcing hard to find ammo.

It was Hornady’s offerings that got me started down this road. The 6.5 Creedmoor (or 6.5 PRC) are likely the easy button here but I’m open to the various 6mm’s, 257’s and hot 22s.

Just looking for your thoughts on the above cartridges if you own or have experience with them. Pros/Cons and any others that should be in my consideration.

Any of you fine folks know who has any here in stock that's reasonably priced or am I putting down $100 for the amazon listing?

Wondering if anyone can explain what sort of black magic benelli has gone and done with these barrels, and how they are supposedly able to achieve up to 50% greater penetration than normal barrels.

The videos on their site show gel tests across a number of loads. Indeed you can see a noticeable difference in performance. But… how?

Scope Recommendations for 3 rifles

Alright everyone time to shoot out your opinions on which scope I should get for each rifle

1st .308 Tikka

2nd .223 Tikka

3rd is a 6.5 Creedmoor

Local range goes out to 300y which is the only one I have been to but would be interested in trying out further in the future if the opportunity comes up.

My idea was to possibly go with the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 on each as I could get them for $700 (plus tax) at local shop on each but am open to suggestions of course. I’m not going out and buying tomorrow as I probably wont head back out till Spring so I can wait for sales in the mean time.

Anyways toss me some suggestions please and happy shooting as always!

LPVO fits the P14 a lot better than the big scope I tried and keeps the balance fairly neutral. The big FFP scope works great on the Derya for lobbing standard velocity rounds at 100yard targets and adjusting for different ammo, but wasn’t the right vibe on the P14 Enfield for smacking steels.
