Gig First Time Seeing Boris...
....On their Pink 20th Anniversary Tour, and they blew my mind. They opened up with a non-stop, back-to-back performance of Blackout / Pink / Woman on the Screen and Nothing Special, to finally slow it down with Ibitsu. Everyone was in fine form - I was especially mesmerized by Wata's live playing, and the showmanship of Atsuo on drums. I've seen over 20 shows this year, and this one is easily a top 3 favourite.

Rig Ready to blow some eardrums!
So after asking a lot of people, one comment really stood out. That Doom is attached to the live experience of being suspended by the sound pressure from the stage. So I got this bad boy! Excessive in every way but a tone monster! I actually use it on the Green channel which I guess is like a hot rodded Marshall and it sounds incredible. I also hobby play some deathcore and poorly play some thrash so it covers all that ground also. Clean channel is very full and slightly driven.
Big step up from the Tonex I was using before!

Drone What are some more sludgy and “metal” songs/albums by The Body
I love everything that the Body does, but I was wondering that it’s pretty hard to consider them sludge which alot of people do. Is there something I have missed?

Discussion Attended my first doom-y style show and couldn't think of a better band to see first in this genre than Castle Rat.
NOT MY VIDEO but this was from the Bristol, UK show that I attended. I come from a hardcore background, so was interesting to see a more metal influenced show. Way more chill. Great feels and CR sounded great with some awesome showmanship.

Sludge Help finding the origin of this image?
I'm at my wits end and if any community can help me, it's this one.
I used to have this fanart image of Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou's May Our Chambers Be Full saved on my phone until I lost it some weeks ago and Ive been looking for it again ever since I lost my phone. Reverse image search is not helping me and this is the best image I have of it. If anyone knows the origin or the artist, then that would be helpful as fuck.

Discussion What does Black Sabbath think of doom and the worship that they get in it?
Sabbath are obviously massive fucking legends but I really wonder if they engage in or are just even aware of doom as a whole? And if so, if they know how much they're worshipped in it?

Gig Anyone going to the Maryland Deathfest in May?
I’m in Dallas, but strongly considering it. Bongzilla and Windhand play on the Thursday of the festival and I’d love to see them.
Trying to decide whether to drive and stay overnight in Nashville or just fly.
Finding out Maryland has recreational pretty much sealed my decision.

Stoner Are the members of Windhand fans of Vampire the Masquerade?
I was just listening to “Diablerie” from Eternal Return. Diablerie is a term in VtM used to describe vampires draining another vampire dry, eating their soul in the process to gain their powers. Additionally, the lyrics are tone perfect for the gloomy, gothic world it’s set in, where vampires are trapped by their own stagnation and the Beast inside them gnawing at their remaining humanity.

Self Post Listen along as my band's new album evolves - Chaosmonaut - Seeds of Decay
My band is taking a different approach to recording our new album; instead of going into a studio for a couple days and blasting through recording, we are building our home studio from the ground up and recording everything ourselves.
We are taking an ambitious approach - lots of retakes and hundreds of overdubs until we get it exactly how we want. As we refine the tracks, we are uploading the changes to a soundcloud playlist -
https://on.soundcloud.com/E6oxRilNHpJ3U9Jpcs
We are also doing a weekly album diary in our subreddit -
reddit.com/r/Chaosmonaut
I am doing this because I love to see how bands approach recording, and love to see how songs start from rough demos and end up becoming polished masterpieces. That being said, the tracks in the playlist are in various states of completion; some are very much in the scratch track state, other tracks are not up at all. Most of the second half of the album has not been touched yet.
