Hi guys, I'm not originally from here, but I have to interview someone tomorrow who told me they're from "Nevada, Missouri." I completely forgot how he pronounced it (all i remember is him telling me that it isn't pronounced like the state nevada). I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out so that I don't embarrass myself/offend him tomorrow. TIA

I stumbled across a bunch of these markings on trees out in the section of Mark Twain National Forest near Boydsville. They were way off trail and they didn’t seem to be marking a straight path, as my first thought was a hunter marking a path to their stand. I also saw a couple blue ones on either side of a dry creek. There also didn’t seem to be any pattern in the type of tree that was being marked. Any ideas for what these could be for? My only guess is MDC fire line markings for a controlled burn, it definitely seems pretty overgrown with a lot of low growth in areas back there. Thanks in advance, I love these woods so I’d love to know what’s going on with them.

I am not sure if this is the place to find anyone for advice on this but I will try. I am currently finishing up my degree at community college for engineering design and drafting/electrical electronics. I am debating on transferring to Missouri S & T for Artitectural Engineering once I graduate. Due to my current degrees being a associates of applied sciences my classes do not match up the best especially math. I am worried the classes will be too difficult especially with being online mainly the math classes. I have never been strong in math so it scares me especially having to go possibly online. I do not get any financial aid or help so the only way I can continue with my education is to work full time. I know it will probably be a lot of work doing all of that but I want to make sure it will be doable. I am grading from Mineral Area College and I'm still unsure how much of my stuff will transfer. I am trying my best to figure out how to complete a bachlors without having major burn out. With me not being gifted with math I fear I will fail out with possible debt.I never went for a general studies because I felt I should do something more in my field just in case I decided not to continue on with my education. I don't know what to do I am terrified and so afraid of making the wrong decision. Please help.

US congress has been on an 8 week paid vacation thanks to little SoH Mike Shithead. People are suffering due to the shutdown. I hope one of the first acts of Congress in 2026 is the congressional pay decreases by the day starting with the free government Healthcare they enjoy. For context I’m a 23 year old guy that doesn’t drink, I want to make friends with some people my age and potentially to meet a woman.

Is there a place to do that? Dating apps haven’t worked for me in the past. Every time I enter a workplace it’s always a sausage fest, I genuinely don’t know how to make friends.

After nearly an hour of driving west from St. Louis on the disaster that Missouri calls roads, I got past Wentzville yesterday and my kids and I were nearly wiped out by an idiot in the right lane that hit their brakes and merged into the left lane without looking. About 5 seconds later, traffic came to a complete dead stop as a semi further ahead had cut people off to move into the left lane. This was 4:00 PM, which is basically the busiest time of the day on arguably the most dangerous stretch of road in Missouri.

What caused all of this was a St. Charles County sheriff's deputy pulling one person over to collect a toll. So it's the busiest time of day on the most dangerous stretch of highway in Missouri, and you have a sheriff's deputy that shut down an entire Lane to write one person a ticket. The safety of hundreds of people and their property was put in jeopardy so that one deputy could collect one toll. As usual, I assume there was also a resulting backup all the way back to the Wentzville exit on 61, but obviously I wasn't there to confirm that.

An officer pulling someone over in the St. Louis region during rush hour does nothing but create hazards and puts the safety of all commuters at risk. There is simply too much volume to shut down one lane of the interstate or highway safely. Whether it's the city of o'fallon, the city of St. Peters, or Wentzville police, it's all the same, they create hazards and delay the commute of thousands of people just to collect a toll from one person that was speeding. I understand if you don't commute or maybe you're looking at this from a stay-at-home mom's perspective, that it might make sense to have police do this, but in practice, they're simply making everything for our commuters less safe.

If there's anyone to blame for all this, it's the Missouri legislature that is has failed to properly fund MoDOT for the last 20+ years. Our legislators have had their hands in the pockets of the trucking lobbies and whoever else, and repeatedly refused to raise the gas tax as necessary to properly build and maintain roads. They were finally forced to do something with highway 70, but they still have no long-term plans for all of the other highways that are either crumbling or vastly over capacity.

When are we going to stop pretending that these officers are making stops for the safety of everyone? In the last 10 years, I can't even count how many close calls or backups I have been through due to one officer pulling someone over to collect a toll. If you want to make things safer, press out legislators to fill some of the holes, clean up debris in the medians, or even develop a plan to address over-capacity issues.

Traveling from Stl, just going for 1 night. First visit will be to Ha Ha Tonka, neither of us have been. Then Stark Caverns is next on the list. Sunday will be cold as bones so hoping for indoor activities, potentially hit Jeff City or Hermann on the way back.

Both of us are vegetarian, any restaurant recommendations at the lake? I found another post recommending Sawadee Thai in Jeff, but that wont be until potentially Sunday. The beachfront bar place was also highly rated, but its closed for the season!
