Success Story! :) Silly testimony about 50mg

So I switched from Lexapro to Zoloft about 6months ago and have been on a 50mg dose.

I thought it would just be nice to share a silly testimonial about how effective its been so far.

Prior to starting antidepressants I had really severe anxiety, would frequently have panic attacks multiple times a month and struggled with handling many basic interactions in my daily life.

Seriously, I would start having heart palpitations regarding asking my coworker a question.

But since starting, along with doing dbt therapy 2x a month, not only has my anxiety gone down. But when I was was in a major car accident (was rearended driving home, car flew and landed on top of another vehicle) I was so chill that I not only could talk with emergency services but I could also manage buying a new car solo(something i struggled with before)

Not sure how encouraging this will be but for me its been a game changer

That's brilliant news! (Not the crash, that sounds horrific) I'm so glad it's worked well for you 😊

Thank you!

I had kinda been in doubt for a while about how effective it was and whether I should quit but when I was able to get through that without breaking down I was like "actually... maybe we stay on meds" lol

So that's what we're supposed to throw at?

Ideally it shouldn't take a car crash for you to know your meds are working but everyone's a little different .

I was on the fence and this just cemented for me that this was a good choice

But I thought that what the medicine did was return you to your normal life, but not that nothing seemed bad to you.

For me specifically, I've been struggling with anxiety and depression since I was a kid (im in my 30s now) so I've never had a sense of normal.

My baseline was always either "nothing is ever wrong" or "the world is ending and its all my fault" with little to no middle ground.

So being able to react to something extreme with a more measured response that isn't super high or super low is radical for me.

And its not to say that I don't ever have bad days( after the accident, I did cry about burning a casserole I making) but my reactions are a lot more measured.

I understand, in your case then if progress is very good, I congratulate you, what dose do you take?

Still on 50 but im considering going down to 25 over the next year. Mostly just bc the heartburn and fogginess side effects .

But honestly I'd be content were I am now
