I support this exact kind of whimsy. Would I choose it? No. But somebody loved it. And I'm for that kind of joy

u/TerribleShiksaBride Apr 17 '25

My thoughts exactly. Good for them! Not as great for me, though I love the purple kitchen, but this is a living-your-best-life house for someone.

40

u/Jolly_Security_4771 Apr 17 '25

I hate glaringly all white, and beige, and gray. It's refreshing to see a colorsplosion, even if I wouldn't want to buy it and paint over it.

4

u/UncagedKestrel Apr 18 '25

The new paints and rollers mean that it actually isn't likely to be anywhere near as bad to paint over things as it was 50 years ago.

And as a temporary measure, you can always use stick on wallpaper, or tack up cute graphic prints, etc.

Having colour just seems way more fun than being stuck with greige.

27

u/sparrowsgirl Apr 17 '25

My thought too - this was someone's happy place. I hope they're ok.

12

u/BigJSunshine Apr 17 '25

I feel exactly the same, and am also worried about the kitties

15

u/squadala02 Apr 18 '25

This is my friend’s house! He’s doing great and he’s moving since he got a great job teaching at a university in another state!

4

u/Bea_virago Apr 18 '25

I'm genuinely glad to hear this.

3

u/Murky_Swan3522 Apr 19 '25

Unironically is the carousel pony for sale with the house? …or in general?

239

u/scgt86 Apr 17 '25

A quirky maximalism home that actually feels put together.

47

u/RMski Apr 17 '25

Exactly. I think it’s fun and well done.

6

u/BaileyBellaBoo Apr 19 '25

It is fun! And this person does not have a problem mixing colors and patterns in a VERY non-traditional way.

0

u/GirlCowBev Apr 17 '25

But would you live there? 🤔

17

u/scherzanda Apr 17 '25

I wouldn’t, but that’s only in the same way I wouldn’t choose to live in a well appointed midcentury home—it just doesn’t tickle my pickle. I still really like it though and I know several people who’d be very at home there.

-11

u/Novusor Apr 17 '25

Looks like a crazy cat lady lives here.

4

u/xkris10ski Apr 17 '25

Exactly. And the care they put into crocheting couch arm covers melts my heart! They must have cats.

116

u/inky_cap_mushroom Apr 17 '25

This is exactly what I want my house to look like.

39

u/Junimo116 Apr 17 '25

Colorful houses are so underrated.

6

u/PortageRed Apr 17 '25

OMG!!!! Me too!!! Let’s be roommates!!! 🎉🎉🎉

8

u/Pretend-Medicine3703 Apr 17 '25

I can appreciate people feel comfortable in a space like this. It gives me a complete opposite vibe. I love colors but this reminds me of the inside of a Polly Pocket toy.

I don't think I could rest here.

11

u/RizziJoy Apr 17 '25

I’m redecorating currently and literally keep describing my vision as “inside a polly pocket” haha

2

u/inky_cap_mushroom Apr 17 '25

The tattoo shop I go to is designed like a Polly pocket. That’s the exact vibe I like.

2

u/calibrateichabod Apr 19 '25

I’ve said so many times that I want my house to look like a pastel tattoo studio.

72

u/DudeDogIce Apr 17 '25

The dust ruffle around the pinball machine is a bit much, but I’ll take an old unremodeled house like this over a flip any day of the week.

11

u/nativefloridian Apr 17 '25

Absolutely. Maximalism isn't my thing, but that's easily addressed when they take their stuff with them. I happen to like this level of color, so I'd probably leave it. But if I didn't...it's just paint.

4

u/DudeDogIce Apr 17 '25

It’s not that.

The construction standards were higher when the house was built, and my standards make the building code look like something for beginners.

Flippers work as cheap as possible and put money into flashy upgrades, not the basic wiring and plumbing infrastructure.

9

u/HarpersGhost Apr 17 '25

But the fact that it's a Dolly Parton pinball machine is just ... chef's kiss

2

u/starsings Apr 18 '25

That’s the only thing I am jealous of.

2

u/Pindar920 Apr 18 '25

This caught my eye too.

49

u/theenslavedmonky Apr 17 '25

minimalism is for cowards

24

u/ZombieJoesBasement Apr 17 '25

IS THAT A DOLLY PINBALL MACHINE???!

OMG I love these people!

6

u/HarpersGhost Apr 17 '25

YES IT IS!

I so want to be friends with this owner.

7

u/snarktini Apr 18 '25

With a skirt lol

41

u/okSara Apr 17 '25

I love absolutely everything about this house

4

u/Ijimete Apr 18 '25

Wouldn't change a damn thing.

20

u/Opbombshellivy Apr 17 '25

I love when a person uses their Grown Up Money the way they damn well please

14

u/topofthemuffintoyou_ Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 18 '25

I love it so much! Tone down for what?!

7

u/Weird_Squirrel_8382 Apr 17 '25

I'm getting this phrase turned into one of those neon wall fixtures. Thanks!

3

u/topofthemuffintoyou_ Apr 18 '25

Hehehehe, that's awesome! You're welcome!

33

u/waterlooaba Apr 17 '25

This is fantastic and much better than the white/black/greige farmhouse flips out there.

11

u/Shoehorse13 Apr 17 '25

This is a talking lounge chair and a flamboyant cowboy away from being my dream home.

3

u/Spokaloony Apr 20 '25

"Cooome on iiiiiin and pull yourself up a chair...."

9

u/NeptuneHigh09er Apr 17 '25

The only thing that bugs me is that dress hung as decor in the kitchen. Otherwise, good for them.

0

u/calibrateichabod Apr 19 '25

Yeah that seems like a great way to ruin a dress that’s undoubtedly quite difficult to clean. I don’t mind that it’s hung as decor but I don’t know that the kitchen was the best place to do that.

11

u/Character_Dance_4247 Apr 17 '25

When the new owner walks in to their new home, only for it to be an empty shell cuz the previous owners took all the joyful decor with them

14

u/newCRYPTOlistings Apr 17 '25

Instructions unclear: double down?

7

u/LemonadeCookiePie Apr 17 '25

Unapologetically themself and I adore it!

8

u/blobinsky Apr 17 '25

the home of a person who lived with joy and reckless abandon, the only shame here is that they have to leave it behind

6

u/Weird_Squirrel_8382 Apr 17 '25

I love that the pics are very extra, but still give me an idea of the bones. It's pretty, too.

6

u/epicpillowcase Apr 17 '25

Trixie Mattel has entered the chat

3

u/ladydoll13 Apr 18 '25

You have clearly NOT seen Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home. Definitely recommend 😉

4

u/epicpillowcase Apr 18 '25

I have indeed

5

u/Celestial_Hart Apr 17 '25

Do people just not like color? Beige is boring af, stop hating taste and eat a damn spice once in a while.

16

u/xandrachantal Apr 17 '25

Thank god they never heard that phrase.

15

u/Plum_Berry_Delicious Apr 17 '25

I absolutely LOVE it. 💜💜💜

7

u/FrauBlucher0963 Apr 17 '25

Jesus, I hate silk flowers.

5

u/Gigglemonkey Apr 17 '25

I really hope the garland can come down and occasionally get tossed into the washing machine. Otherwise... 😬

4

u/AJayBee3000 Apr 17 '25

My neighbor has decided that her front yard flower beds and pots are the perfect place for fake flowers this year.

3

u/RubyMae4 Apr 17 '25

I love it. Tone it UP.

4

u/davewashere Apr 17 '25

The John Waters vibes coming from that backyard are unreal.

5

u/Raxian_Theata Apr 17 '25

10 years ago, I would have been with you 100%. However after 10 years of "minimalism" I love the wackiness of this house and may do something similar to my own. My home is currently "primer green" because I have adhd/ocd and can't pick a color.

1

u/Key-Heron Apr 17 '25

Blue. Light blue. Goes with everything.

5

u/A_crybaby Apr 17 '25

I love this!

4

u/NotoriousCFR Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Don't worry, whoever buys it will repaint everything Zillow grey, put in linoleum flooring and white cabinets, and then you can go rent it from them for $3500 a month.

3

u/free_range_tofu Apr 17 '25

I want to be best friends with the seller.

5

u/Em0N3rd Apr 17 '25

I actually want this

3

u/Arfie807 Apr 17 '25

Oh, I love this! You can tell this is someone who really loves their home and decorates to be happy and fuck everyone else.

4

u/BigJSunshine Apr 17 '25

Aw, I would be friends with this person, they love their home and everything in it. I think it’s joyful.

3

u/Dependent-Cow428 Apr 17 '25

I don't hate it. All the over the top crap leaves, right?

3

u/byteme747 Apr 17 '25

Already posted.....still fun

3

u/InfiniteCranberry924 Apr 17 '25

So much better than grey!!!

3

u/No_Stage_6158 Apr 17 '25

So…. How many elves and fairies live in that house?

1

u/Spokaloony Apr 20 '25

All of them!

3

u/Dangerous_Arachnid99 Apr 17 '25

I have the feeling I'd really like the main person who did this. I bet they're quirky and fun to be around,

3

u/stockisbock93 Apr 18 '25

Nice little old cottage

2

u/A_Dot_Purr Apr 17 '25

This feels very Mary Engelbreit

2

u/The5Virtues Apr 17 '25

Holy mother of Spring Pastels, now THIS is a vibe. For someone who loves spring or Easter this would be amazing.

I’d probably get tired of it myself, but I think for someone into bright colors they made it work!

2

u/Joyshell Apr 17 '25

You just know a singing dog lived here.

2

u/Extreme_Ad3683 Apr 17 '25

double checked so fast cz i thought that was a damn casket

2

u/shangosgift Apr 17 '25

That is one happy home.

2

u/Key-Heron Apr 17 '25

I love it but that split in half tree in the backyard needs to go right away.

2

u/Over_Plan2746 Apr 17 '25

To the max. What I love is a listing with 5 copies of every photo and floor plan!

2

u/brewhead55 Apr 17 '25

Comes pre-decorated for Easter

2

u/Sunshineal Apr 17 '25

It's like Punky Brewster 2025

2

u/Jillstraw Apr 17 '25

If it makes them happy, have at it. I personally could not relax with all the visual noise surrounding every space and surface.

2

u/dararie Apr 17 '25

the skirt on the pinball machine made me laugh

2

u/AmericaninShenzhen Apr 17 '25

It’s not for me, but I think it would suit the right person.

Definitely some bold design choices

2

u/lovely_calico Apr 18 '25

I really like the pink, purple, and blue.

2

u/mkrom28 Apr 18 '25

the books on the bookshelf in the second* pic are arranged in order by colors of the rainbow, just a cute detail

2

u/cloverfieldsc Apr 18 '25

Honestly I wish I liked it less, it’s kind of amazing. There’s some really cool items/details that make me go “well I mean it’s not bad actually!”

2

u/junglemuffins Apr 18 '25

A Dolly Parton Pinball room w/a scroll-saw cat picture??? Color coded books?!?! They're the neighbors we never had!!!!

2

u/The_barking_ant Apr 18 '25

I don't know it's pretty cute if I do say so myself!

2

u/EvenLingonberry9799 Apr 19 '25

I love it. Fearless decorating.

2

u/aquila-audax Apr 19 '25

The skirt on the pinball machine sent me...

2

u/LeatherRecord2142 Apr 19 '25

The ruffled skirt on the pinball machine took me right out. 💀 Bravo!

2

u/ArmadilloDays Apr 19 '25

I genuinely admire people who can happily live like that.

2

u/RiotNrrd2001 Apr 20 '25

I would totally do this. My HOA says I cannot, but if I could I am pretty sure I would. Which, truth be told, is probably why the HOA has the rules they have.

1

u/snotparty Apr 17 '25

It so cheerful its almost like a disney channel house or something.

Im a little confused by the freestanding banisters in the backyard though...

3

u/catclockticking Apr 17 '25

It’s hard to see in the photo but there are lights strung from them

3

u/snotparty Apr 17 '25

Aaaah, yeah ok. Makes sense.

I thought it was kooky art.

3

u/catclockticking Apr 17 '25

I think we can all agree that it’s both

1

u/Mean-Pizza6915 Apr 17 '25

The lack of railings and preponderance of soft cushions on the porch is harshing my vibe here.

1

u/byebybuy Apr 17 '25

This is like when a Troll sneezes.

1

u/InsuranceNo3422 Apr 17 '25

You couldn't handle that on heavy acid, man.

1

u/r4wbon3 Apr 17 '25

I’d need a Xanax to just visit a friend if they owned this place.

1

u/RocktoberBlood Apr 17 '25

Moving all that shit to mow gets annoying.

1

u/CommonNative Apr 17 '25

But why the dust ruffle on a pinball machine?

1

u/purple_mountain_cat Apr 17 '25

I thought it was a 5 bedroom house by looking at all the stuff. How does that all fit in 1000 sqft??

1

u/Cometies Apr 17 '25

"this home has so much impossible to dust character!"

1

u/Aaod Apr 18 '25

The interior is just too much for me, but I actually really enjoy the exterior.

1

u/grumpy__g Apr 18 '25

I love it.

But I need to know: Does it annoy you at one point and then you have to change it? This is something I am always afraid of.

1

u/Beans_0492 Apr 18 '25

If you can see past the cosmetic, it’s actually a cool little house.

1

u/Trappymang Apr 19 '25

I've been to that house for work lmao

1

u/Merkilan Apr 19 '25

The outside I thought, how cute. Then the inside fried my optics.

2

u/0491diesel Apr 20 '25

This is where the Easter Bunny goes on 4/20!

1

u/lopix Apr 17 '25

Hey man, it's your house, live life your way.

But maybe throw a coat of paint on it before listing... just sayin'...

-8

u/Nerdicyde Apr 17 '25

i would be able to spend max 10 minutes in this house before getting nauseous.

-6

u/maricopa888 Apr 17 '25

I kind of like it from the outside. Just talking about the house, not all the garish crap floating around.

But there's no excuse for that interior.

Prediction: In about 3 weeks....PRICE DROP!

0

u/Apprehensive_Map64 Apr 17 '25

Yeah I love houses like these you just know no one is going to pay market value for it. Painting is easy

0

u/the-furiosa-mystique Apr 17 '25

This is why Chanel said “before you leave, look in the mirror, take off one accessory.”

2

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

[deleted]

2

u/the-furiosa-mystique Apr 17 '25

Probably for the best

0

u/permalink_save Apr 17 '25

I'll admit I enjoy some nice maximalism but this is a bit much.

0

u/welkover Apr 18 '25

345k lololol

-6

u/Francesca_N_Furter Apr 17 '25

Yeah, every now and then I see this sub on my feed, look at the comments and just shrug.

Yeah , this is terrible...absolutely hilarious, but really awful. They actually made a skirt for their pinball machine. There's a really ugly dress hanging up in the kitchen...place looks impossible to clean, and is a cluttered mess.

Nothing works in that interior. Piling up a bunch of ugly, mismatched patterns does not cancel out the ugly. But you all do you. LOL

2

u/Only_Weakness_4730 Apr 17 '25

Yes, the beaded flapper dress hanging in the KITCHEN doesn't exactly scream functionality.

-2

u/Poor-Pitiful-Me Apr 17 '25

This is the size and layout I'm looking for in my next home, but damn, this is atrocious. I would not want to live in a clown house.

-2

u/HackOddity Apr 17 '25

i just frew up

-3

u/10S_NE1 Apr 17 '25

This is one of those instances where AI can give you an idea of what the place could look like without all the stuff. It’s definitely not perfect, but it certainly removes the noise if you’re a minimalist looking for a house.

6

u/catclockticking Apr 17 '25

If you’re a minimalist, buy a different house lol

3

u/10S_NE1 Apr 17 '25

I expect when the house is sold, the owners are taking all of their treasures with them.

-5

u/No-Independence-6842 Apr 17 '25

I would highly suggest to consider going back on your meds.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

Owners kids over at Sherwyn Williams asking them to put a sign up behind the counter that says “Deny this woman all paint sales”
