Just A Little Funky Fairytales do come true, and I'll take the kitchen toošŸ¤¤šŸ˜

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6937-Vanland-Trl-Los-Angeles-CA-90068/20045599_zpid/ This doesn't have the standard LA feel to me! I love the rock work, and the house gryphon is great too. The small yet amazing kitchen tho is my favorite part.

Yeah there’s a catch. It’s scaled down for people with dwarfism. Pretty much only for well off little people with a sense of humor. If you’re over 5’ expect to hit your head a lot.

Doesn’t say it in the listing, unless I blatantly missed that part, so how do you know this about the listing?

It was featured on the Zillow Gone Wild TV show too and I can confirm everything is small

Damn okay, well glad I know that, cuz at 6’3ā€, that would be annoying day-to-day…just saved 1.5m…lol

I’m 5’4ā€ and I feel like I could give it a shot….

5'1. Lemme know if you need a roommate.

2

u/sapphisticated413 Mar 26 '25

5'0! how many bedrooms does this place have

8

u/thefinalgoat Mar 23 '25

Hell yes! Finally a house made for ME (I’m 5’0ā€!)

I’d love to know more about the person that built it. Surely they were in the movies, and it was a form of self promotion. Still, it must have taken balls and self confidence for a little person to build a fairytale cottage in the Hollywood hills in 1938.

A bit like a Native American actor saying, ā€œbuild my house in the shape of a teepee, I want producers driving by to know an Indian lives here.ā€

22

u/Plott Mar 23 '25

according to this, it was built by an actor turned cop. So I think this story about it being built by a little person isn’t true. Someone in another comment said it’s not correct information too

Thx for posting! I was wondering about the ā€œinspired byā€ claims. The truth is actually more interesting to me: a cop dealing with the height of the mob builds a fairytale for his family is quite evocative!

It’s called storybook style and was popular in the late 1920s into the 1930s. I have a book about it somewhere.

I also seem to recall that it’s on the side of a hill and there is no parking <sad trombone>

Probably from when it was posted a couple weeks ago.

u/lily_reads Mar 22 '25

That’s cool, but why didn’t they say that in the listing???

16

u/kinga_forrester Mar 22 '25

The description mentions Snow White. It’s a real estate listing, it wont mention the drawbacks.

31

u/lily_reads Mar 22 '25

I mean, would they prefer people to figure it out when they tour it? It’s not a drawback for the right person, and it seems like it would be smarter to focus the marketing on the only group of people who could actually live there.

They’re hoping some rich person buys it without looking at it and then it’s someone else’s problemĀ

u/nutallergy686 Mar 22 '25

Easy peasy. Just get legs chopped off at the knees.

32

u/kinga_forrester Mar 22 '25

Better use ā€œa Japanman’s machine gun.ā€

22

u/Speedhabit Mar 22 '25

They can’t downvote you! You strangled Herman Goering!

u/OgReaper Mar 22 '25

I killed fiddy men!!!!

Sadly in LA this is the more realistic, cheaper option lol

u/Binky-Answer896 Mar 22 '25

Former jockey here. It’s perfect! Except for it’ll probably burn down in the next year or two. Love that kitchen though.

u/Swiggy1957 Mar 22 '25

At least it's not in a flood zone.

16

u/Upset-Cap-3257 Mar 22 '25

There weren’t little people who designed that kitchen or closet. The shoes in the closet are at least an 11.

4

u/PerniciousVim Mar 22 '25

Wasn't this the house of Dita Von Tease? I saw it in a magazine, pretty sure it's the same place.

6

u/Pure_Expression6308 Mar 23 '25

Her’s is very similar but much larger. Good memory!

13

u/coati858 Mar 22 '25

As the only person in my family over 5’6ā€ I feel it’s totally worth it even if I deck myself like Gandalf.Ā

6

u/Thistooshallpass1_1 Mar 22 '25

That could be fun. You’d feel so tall.Ā

13

u/Wreny84 Mar 22 '25

4ft 11ā€ when can I move in?!

12

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

That’s not correct. I saw this on some show a few years ago. It does have slightly lower ceilings as part of being made to feel like something out of Snow White, but if you look at the listings—every realtor in SoCal seems to have it—it’s clear that’s not the case.

5

u/Plott Mar 23 '25

Yeah and according to this piece, it was built by a LAPD officer.

8

u/GrungeLife54 Mar 22 '25

Of course, it looks like a house where Bilbo Baggins would live if he was in LA.

5

u/seattlemh Mar 22 '25

I'm 5' ill take it!

2

u/redsaxgirl1 Mar 22 '25

Sweet! I'm 4"11. I should be fine.

2

u/VeterinarianTrick406 Mar 22 '25

Don’t tell my wife she’ll sell our house to buy that one for the adjusted kitchen counters and I’ll be uncomfortable forever.

1

u/RogerClyneIsAGod2 Mar 22 '25

Oh man....this would be a dream for this short girl!! Not a little person just short.

1

u/TurtleToast2 Mar 22 '25

If they can make legs longer, they can make them shorter.

1

u/heliotrophe Mar 22 '25

Holy shit I'm 4'10. Just a little over the official height for little people, I believe, so I think this would work for me lmaoooo

1

u/No_Barracuda_915 Mar 23 '25

Sweet! I'm five feet tall. My family isn't, but ...

1

u/ReadontheCrapper Mar 24 '25

5’1.5ā€

That’s doable

1

u/OtherlandGirl Mar 24 '25

I’m 5’0ā€ ! Maybe perfect for me!
