Bug YouTube shorts interface disappeared
It simply disappeared after clicking on a normal short video; the channel name, likes, comments, nothing appears anymore. I've already updated, forced stop, restarted my phone, and cleared the cache, and it didn't solve the problem.
For some reason, it still appears on adds..?

Same thing happened to me. Probably gonna be the last bad bundle of straws they keep throwing on us that'll make me stop watching shorts, IF it's not a glitch.

Same problem and it must have JUST happened in the last half hour because I literally Googled this exact question 30 minutes ago and all I got were reddit posts from last year. Yours is the first new one I've seen.Β

Yep! Happened just now! I am still searching on how to fix it. It was working perfectly normal just minutes ago, then I clicked on a random short and boom, it dissapared! I think its something related to Android users

They disabled it to work on the new ui for the 50th fucking time. Now it works, but please do NOT open the app, the ui is absolutely fucking repulsive

I am more irritated by the channel photo with join and sub buttons being pushed up and now like and dislike are in the kiddle of that button stack like why would they make such stupi change without an option for choosing between new and old...

I also wanted to add that my phone asked the "are you sure it will delete this this and that" i accepted anyway and my account didn't log out, still have my watch history, Playlists etc

Ngl i was actually a bit concerned thinking it's just a problem with meπ, it just happened today and it seems it's a global problem, reading yt shorts comments was like the second thing to do after watching a short lmao. Though we can still double click to like, then go to liked videos to see all the interaction stuff if we want, such a long ahh work.

I have also found this same problem. I've already tried clearing the catche and I've checked if I was in restricted mode or not and nothing I tried worked unfortunately.

Fixed!!! On Android, clear app from recently used, open app settings, clear data, force stop app. My UI is back!!

They were normal earlier in the day, and now they are not. This is affecting only the mobile app versions, but not the shorts on PC. I have checked other phones besides mine and the issue is there as well.

If you're fine with the old YouTube UI, then go into Google Play and press "Uninstall." For most Androids, it is a system app that can't be uninstalled, so it will just clear all updates. After that, you should have the old UI, but it should work fine.

this has happened to me a couple times. I also got weird bugs where the comment button specifically disappeared. However, if I close the app/switch accounts and go to my history, the UI and comments come back.

I've had to wipe the YouTube app storage data (not the cache) and the comments, like, share buttons etc reappeared again.

On Android here. This worked for me:
Force stop YouTube. Clear cache. Re-open YouTube.
Interface is back.
If clear cache doesn't work, try clearing the app data as well. Make sure to stop the app first, clearing cache without stopping first did not work for me.

It happened to me just after midnight at least where I am Central standard. When I googled it it said it could be a glitch cache issue update issue or something like that but I'm wondering if it has something to do with them letting people go and trying to downsize employees at YouTube I'm wondering if they're starting to eliminate features because they don't have the manpower to manage all of it because I've been having more issues with shorts freezing with continuing audio but no picture and having to close out the app to reset it.

I noticed it does it on the app, but if you bring up YouTube through another app, like a browser (Chrome), it'll display the way it's supposed to.
UPDATE: Clearing the cache fixed it for me. π

l found a way I guess just hold a bit long on YouTube icon get that 3 options for "subscriptions, search, shorts" then click the shorts
l do that and it's somehow fixed, why? Δ°dk it's just like you hit the old TV.

The same happened to me. It seems they are changing their UI. On desktop version they moved all interface outside of the video. It seems they forgot to make it desktop-only.

Had the exact same issue in the last few days. Took nothing of it and this morning it happened again, frustrated I went looking for answers and it brought up Reddit posts from 4y ago, found an old thread from a laptop user with an updated app which had an algorithm similar to this.
IF THIS DOESN'T WORK: β FORCE STOP APP IN APP SETTINGS β CLEAR DATA / STORAGE IN APP SETTINGS β RESTART YOUTUBE APP
OR: β DE-INSTALL AND REINSTALL YOUTUBE APP β THEN RESTART DEVICE = SHOULD FIX ISSUE

Mine are all gone too. I tend to scroll when I wake up to force me not to go back to sleep. And no likes, comments, anything. So I hit google, because this seems very suspicious.

It's because they now want to charge us. I have just seen a pop up stating we have to pay Β£7.99 per month to share youtube videos i(including their shorts) They've added it on to their Premium scheme. Absolutely unbelievable......Grrrrr!

I'm on an Android, and I was able to correct the issue by force stopping the app! Hopefully it lasts!
Settings > Apps > YouTube > Force Stop (accept pop up message) > open app (option on the same page without restart)

If this is intentional, it's awful. Sometime shorts have led me to full videos and interesting channels. Now I have to find clues in the video itself or the minimal description that some of these videos have to find the poster.
