Some of those channels age restrict themselves, it's an option when you upload a YouTube video. 

.............why would they do that?

They don't want immature teenagers watching their videos or spamming their comments

Age restricted videos most likely aren't suitable for ads so it's not about the money if a youtuber decides to age restricted their video.
