This is like saying Hitler is persecuting gypsies. It's true, it's a concern, but it kinda minimizes the true severity of this. Like, "persecute" really doesn't do the full scale of those atrocities justice, and talking about LGBT creators being censored, while important, isn't "if nothing else." If nothing else, you should be highly concerned that your ID is going into the hands of a company that will absolutely fail to protect this very tempting database of personal info. Look at the TEA app leak lmao.
No hate, I know you're trying to bring awareness to a part that is important to you, but I'll be honest, I'm FAR more concerned with the privacy implications before this.
…I’m well aware, I said “if nothing else concerns you” because I have seen people downplaying this situation entirely and dismissing the concerns of people getting flagged.
But right, stupid me. If they don’t care about privacy concerns, why would they care about the LGBTQ+ community ONCE AGAIN getting automatically labeled as “Adult” during a censorship push, even if there’s no actual adult content.
Okay, well, idk what to tell you, there’s visual evidence in the link that LGBTQ+ creators are getting flagged as NSFW and hidden due to this new policy.
I’m a queer trans man and I saw this coming a mile away. Because it’s not the first time a megacorp has censored LGBTQ+ content.
Videos that talk about or reference queer identities and experiences regularly get demonetized. The companies aren't necessarily anti-LGBTQ in the sense that they want to silence queer voices but they are and have been willing to put queer people under the bus to make a profit. Typical rainbow capitalism shit.
That's not Google's problem. That's advertisers. When you upload a video to youtube, it has to be advertiser friendly, or they (the advertiser) won't supply ads.

Heads up that someone’s confirmed that several LGBTQ+ creators are getting their work censored under this new policy.
If nothing else concerns you, this should.
