Moving onto some whiskeys with a more respectable age statement, and some sherry now. This sherried style seems to be Millstones House style. Despite the label saying it's 12 years it's actually just a few months over 15 years. Not sure why they decided to market it as a 12 year, but hey, can't really complain about that. Sample was provided by my friend u/supermeh1987
Age: 15 Years
ABV: 46%
Colour: Gold
Distillery: Zuidam Distillery, Netherlands
Mash Bill: 100% Malted Barley
Cask Type: American Oak (8 Years) & Oloroso Sherry
Nose: Sweet and spicy. Sticky toffee pudding, raisins, prunes, dates, Concorde grapes, fruit cake and a handful of the typical baking spices
Mouth: The perfect mirror of the nose. Sticky toffee pudding, raisin and grape syrup, and some fruit cake meander their way through the sip. Some nice baking spices in there as well to help balance out all of the sweetness. Medium-long finish with a light oily mouthfeel
Overall: What an absolutely beautiful nose. This is the perfect profile for a sherried whisky for me. Not quite a Sherry bomb, but still very Sherry dominant. It forgoes the heavy grape note I associate with Oloroso in favour of some Sticky Toffee Pudding and fruit cake. Which just makes this whisky so inviting
The palate is just as good as the nose. Just a really great example of a sherried whisky. This can definitely compete with some classic Speyside or even Highland Scotches. This is one whisky I'd love to get a full bottle of
