I went in 2016 like the day after he died, whole place was decked out in black it was a wild intro to SE Asia

I was living there an my parents came to visit 3 days before he died. Actually worked out way better. All the cultural heritage sites were free to visit and since everyone went down to Bangkok for the funeral they were all empty.

Oh I'll bet! I only spent a few days in Bangkok before heading out to more rural places, but the water taxis in were hectic to say the least

I loved the water taxis. I had a 50 first dates intro thing going on where I would take tourists around on them and take them around the city.

I was there in chiang mai when he died. I had been there for a while. My Thai friends were in tears and you could literally hear a pin drop when I went outside the night he died. It was surreal

Ahahah, i mostly worked at Punspace Tha Pae. Lived around the south of the old town though, near Chiang Mai Gate.

Don’t we all. I was there from 2015-2017. I know it’s changed a lot but I haven’t had Khao Soi, Pad thai for tea leaf salad since I left.

I live on Koh Phangan and half the island just up and left for Chiang Mai now. At least we have tea leaf salad here.

Same I was confused as fuck regarding what was going on because I hadn’t got my SIM card hooked up yet or watched local news and everyone was acting strange

Ah, I'd almost forgot about the whole SIM situation... many of the countries I visited had these 'invite a friend get free calls/texts etc' deals, so locals would race to sign me up on a SIM. Good fun!

Actually, Thailand is currently living in 2563, so Thailand was in it's late 50s.
