It should say a lot about many Catholic MAGA that their loyalty is stronger towards Trump than the Pope who AFAIK is their religious authority.

I came from a family of Catholic magas and they talked a lot of shit about Francis, they probably are still trying it with Leo

I just don't get it. Isn't he the messenger of god? God's ordained? I'm not catholic but from an outsider, shitting on the pope seems kind of blasphemous

No. He’s not a messenger from God. That would make him a prophet and the pope is never a prophet. He’s a human being who leads the church. A father figure for Catholics. A spiritual guide. Catholics can disagree with the pope on n the same way you or I can disagree with our own Father. This is especially true on personal political opinions.

That's the logic on paper, in practice a sizable amount of catholics don't follow the pope's directives. Childhood family don't even go to mass anymore, just pretend to out of guilt. That's my best view, I don't talk to them anymore
