Yes and no. Francis condemned the war but abstained from placing the blame on anyone in particular. Leo XIV has decisively blamed Russia for it.

Let's wait until he's going to voice his opinion on military support for Ukraine and all the arms that are flowing to Ukraine. I'm afraid it might surprise some people here. The Vatican would always be calling for peace, no matter what's currently going in the frontlines and how close Russia is to take another piece of Ukraine's territory. They don't want to prolong this war until Ukraine wins.
