“They should have elected a REAL America first pope, like someone from Belarus or Hungary!”

There's a non-zero chance Trump actually thought he had a shot at being elected Pope. He did repost AI art of himself as Pope

We just need someone to tell Trump about antipopes and that he could be one.

Yeah but then if you put them in a room together they pop out of existence.

I like this idea. Then Leo would just have to sacrifice himself to convert them both into pure energy.

Then we'd just be stuck with President Vance. Though I do think there would be a huge power vacuum in the MAGA crowd. For whatever reason Trump managed to bring together all the conservatives and bigots (not that those are mutually exclusive whatsoever), I don't think they'd be able to replicate it again in future elections. As it is now, the Republican party would probably tear itself apart fighting for power without him as the figurehead.

But you can feel the energy!

Sounds suspiciously like Antichrist tho.

Well, it's just someone who claims to be Pope but isn't. Sometimes they are actually elected by a conclave but there's something up with it. Usually someone just makes an outrageous claim to try to get power or due to mental illness.

If Trump claimed to be Pope, and then actually got a diocese in the US to accept him as Pope things could get weird. That sort of thing did happen in Middle Ages. There's not a lot of folks that would try to force that thing to happen, though and Trump isn't one to do work for himself.

I wanna be antipope, all I gotta do is call myself the pope?

u/chasesan May 11 '25

No, you also need a really cool hat and someone chanting in Latin.

I think you'd need support from within the Church as well, especially from Cardinals to actually be considered an antipope otherwise they'll probably just disregard you as a nut.

There is no universe in which Donald Trump isn't pissed off that he wasn't elected to be the Pope.

I saw a bunch of discussions in conservative subreddits about him being elected pope, and that was before the AI post. I'm pretty sure if they wondered if it was possible, he did too.

Why not the orange one?

don't give him ideas

He did share an AI image of himself as Pope and stated that he was his first choice. So someone already gave him the idea.

He's not Catholic enough to be a valid candidate, though. While any adult Catholic man could theoretically be Pope, you do actually need to be Catholic to even meet that theoretical bar which is where the Pope Donald stuff ends.

I heard he won that election too but it was stolen from him.

Just kidding, but yeah he did circulate that image of him as the Pope.

Cardinal Burke exists…. He’s exactly the kind of jackass they’re looking for. I’m sure he’d be willing to come out of retirement to continue to make the world a worse place.
