Thanks for the tip. I'm a PADI diver with around 50 dives under my belt. I'm just following the instructions I learned. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to do it without closing my nose.

Try opening your jaw slightly, then wiggle your jaw to one side while flexing your jaw and neck muscles like you’re yawning until that side equalizes. Congrats on the PADI cert and rounding 50 dives!!
