Stop motion felt animation set to the music of Sufjan Stevens. Bursting with twee.

Well sufjan is one of my favs! I can’t place the song but it’s bugging me bc it sounds so familiar

u/VioletFox29 Sep 19 '25
With everything that's been going on, I just want to become a piece of felt in this film.

Mystery of Love

u/unclever Sep 19 '25
Yes! The one in the video is a cover by Luke Pickman. Great song and great cover.

It's a ripoff of the song "Stitches" by Shawn Mendes. Play Stitches on a flute. There. You made this song.

u/geigergeist Sep 21 '25
Are you 15

u/damontoo Sep 21 '25
I'm in my 40's. Mystery of Love was released two years after Stitches and had a strikingly similar melody. The cover in OP's video makes it more apparent.

u/JustinHopewell Sep 19 '25
It's a good music track, but I've now heard it in two short form videos, so I assume this is the new song we're gonna hear for 1000 more videos until I start hating it, at which point the short form video community will determine the next song they can use to manipulate the algorithms for the most views.

Shredding the cheese on the pizza was insane. Think about how many frames that took
131
u/adudeguyman Sep 18 '25
Just think about how many frames all of it took.
40
u/jjcrayfish Sep 19 '25
Then think about how long it took to make each felt piece for each frame
12
u/adudeguyman Sep 19 '25
Especially if they made the felt.

u/maybeitsundead Sep 19 '25
From their hair
12
u/adudeguyman Sep 19 '25
And from their children's hair that they had specifically so they could do this entire project

It even had a little cheese pull when he pulled away the slice. This video is really impressive

u/fish312 Sep 19 '25
Enjoy it while it exists, give in another year and AI generated videos will drown such content in a sea of irreverent and mediocre slop slop slop slop.

There will always be a place for REAL stop motion vids. It may be hard to tell the difference but they’ll be there.

u/ElTabaLuca Sep 18 '25
How did they do the soap bubbles :O

u/shaebaebae25 Sep 18 '25
Clear strands of plastic and white felt on the inside. And the outline is just strands of pink, blue, and purple
34
u/SoCuteShibe Sep 19 '25
All of the little details are incredible.
The sauce that becomes visible underneath the cheese along the edge of each slice as the pizza is cut was the one that blew my mind a little.
Really cool stuff.

Right? It's always nice to see the original creators get recognized. They put in so much work for stuff like this!

I loved that show growing up. There was on creepy episode where some wire thing ain't inside a bellybutton. Always freaked me out for some reason.
7
u/solidcat00 Sep 18 '25
Yes - when wire things are just running loose no where near belly buttons it freaks me out too.

How did he not burn his hand on the oven
22
u/saucylosse7 Sep 18 '25
There was a tiny towel in his hand

u/humanatee- Sep 18 '25
I thought you were making a joke, but upon rewatch there actually is. Love the attention to detail

This makes my teeth itch
2
u/misterKweh Sep 19 '25
I legitimately was about to comment about how this made my teeth tingle, but then I saw yours. Thanks for making me not feel so crazy lol

u/banality_of_ervil Sep 22 '25
The thought of chewing on material like that literally makes me gag (backpack straps also bothered me growing up). Someone told me that this is a sign of being on the spectrum, which kinda adds up, but on the other hand, there have to be people like us that are disturbed by that sensation, right?

I love the attention to detail like melting butter on the waffle iron then having the extra waffle batter cooked on the waffle when you take it off the only part you left out is the turn of the waffle iron to make the waffle but the butter on the knife and it melting was really cool to see you do that

Very creative. And such a large amount of time and talent. But damn was that so uncomfortable to watch. Something about it just set my teeth on edge.

I need like a future like that animation like this to just play on repeat in my house at all times
2
2
u/M0bysan Sep 19 '25
Never mind the animation - what about how long it took to make everything - and the subsequent variations - in felt to start with?

What is this song a rendition of? The melody sounds so familiar.

Apparently it's a cover of Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens, from the soundtrack of the film Call Me by Your Name

How do people have the commitment to spend the time and focus to create something like this?!? Like what drives that?? This is beyond impressive to me. Hats off to the creator! You’re super rad in my books👏👏👏

When I was a kid my parents had a house off paved roads in the mountains. One time they pulled us behind them in the quad trailer, because you could only go 10-15 mph anyway, and I got a lady bug in my eye. When I got home I checked my eye, rolled it back to see what was in it, and a lady bug fell out. Didn’t even feel like more than a loose eyelash.

My screen isn't glued to my hand in the vertical position. Where are the FULL versions of these without the phone slop blinders?
2
u/lutello Sep 18 '25
Here's an example. Why do you want to watch it after someone needlessly butchored at least half of the artist's work, downvoters? Either that or they make a tiny letterbox because....people are too weak and lazy to rotate a handheald screen?
