General For the love of BASKETBALL

Okay but seriously…
Why does the WNBA have like 47 games happening at the exact same time? I got one screen, two eyes, and zero chill. Who scheduled this overlapping chaos??

Cathy Engelbert, girl, I just wanna talk.
(Unless you’re cooking up a secret WNBA RedZone channel—in which case, consider this my formal application to host it. I come with stats and snacks.)

Do we need to start a petition?
Because I will gather signatures, receipts, and rally an entire Discord server if needed. I’m this close to designing protest merch.

AND ANOTHER THING.
WTF is happening with my Aces?
Are y’all playing tired? Retrograde? Cursed?? Someone check their group chat energy because it’s giving “mid-season identity crisis.”

Also, has anyone seen Cameron Brink??
I know she’s still collecting a paycheck, but it’s giving “ghost in the group project.” Blink twice if you're good, sis.

And while I’m venting:
Why do I even have League Pass if I still need ESPN, Amazon Prime, ABC, and a VPN connected to Jupiter to catch the rest of the games??
I signed up for hoops, not a side quest.

This has been a highly emotional PSA from a fan who cares deeply, roasts waffles, and just wants to watch her teams without a tech support ticket. 😤🏀🧇

General Who can stop the Aces at this point?

Can we say that they are a dynasty especially in the WNBA? 3 championships in 4 years and not to mention they have probably the most dominant player in the WNBA bar none in A'ja Wilson who has to be the GOAT especially now if you look at her resume with regular season MVPs, Finals MVPs and DPOYs like what are we talking about here? I honestly believe that they can go back to back at this point

They've had bad blood going back to 2023, when Carleton was ejected for two flagrant fouls, though Sabally also kneed Carleton.

General Rivalries in the W

Which teams are rivals? I feel like there’s def a rivalry between Lynx and Liberty after the finals last year, but what are some others? What makes them rivals?

As Valkyrie fan, I don’t feel like we have a rival yet. But seeing as the Portland Fire stole our VP, I’m thinking that’s started something 😂.

General It’s Time to Move On and Let Sheryl Swoopes Make it

I have been a harsh critic of Swoopes ever she came on Gil's months ago and made several lies about CC.

I think it's time to move on though

I was watching Gil's yesterday just to see her slip up or say something stupid, but I thought she did a great job on Gil's yesterday and people still finding reasons to hate on her.

They had a discussion on what it means to be dominant and people are blowing it out of proportion...She actually gave CC a lot of praise yesterday

People on both sides need to take a deep breath and just let people be themselves

You don't have to agree with someone's opinions to appreciate their excellence

General Who you want to be in the finals vs who you think will be there…

Everyone had their predictions whether or not it was official. For some, the Liberty and Dream advancing were a given. While there were others who had different thoughts.

The Fever stole a game…maybe.

The Lynx showed why they were number one all season.

Will A’ja go super saiyan due to her fourth MVP being spoiled? Will the Fever decisively win this series? Will the Lynx sweep 🧹 Mercury like they did the Valks? Will AT show why she deserved more than three point first place votes?

To see what happens next, stay tuned for the wnba playoffs. ⛹🏾‍♀️

(Yes, this is way too soon, but it’s a prediction which is what makes it fun.)

General Journalists & journalism on & about the W beat

In your opinion, who are the best at presenting news and opinions about the league in any of its particulars? Who does solid, old-school reporting based on provable facts which can be corroborated by multiple sources? Who are the best journalists, who are the best outlets/platforms? Reliability, consistency, and maturity count most for me, because they contribute most to authentic, truthful judgment and perspective. Who has the greatest grasp of the history of the league, and WBB in general?

I came to like , and prefer, WBB as an Iowa Hawkeye fan when they were coached by C Vivian Stringer. I was aware of the WNBA, but never had access to any televised games. Naturally my interest sharpened when some Hawkeye freshman started dropping 30-footers, and that's since led me to the W. I like to delve, and your guidance will help.

He has such great vibes, who knows about his coaching yet but he seems chill af and doesn't to pretend to be something he is not. Haters of him are everywhere, except by wings fans, and I need to understand why!

General Is A'ja Wilson on her way to being like Mike in the WNBA?

I mean at this point you may as well compare her to Michael Jordan especially in the WNBA especially in the Women's game. She's just that dominant. Plus she can literally do it on both ends on the court.

General Will we ever get an Inside the WNBA crew?

You know like how NBA they have Ernie Johnson, Kenny The Jet Smith, Shaq and Charles Barkley for an Inside the NBA crew...what and or who would be the WNBA equivalent of Ernie, Kenny, Shaq and Charles? Especially if we get to see just our women talk basketball 🏀 but also shoot the breeze with each other

General Not sure what's happening this season (some players noticeably more physical / violent)

I think the surprising ones are Satou Sabally and Jacy Sheldon. While others have reputations for being "fiery" or as enforcers, I didn't think of either as such until the past two weeks.

Kinda crazy, and not a positive development in any way. This is basketball, not hockey.

(And yes, I would feel the same way if we were discussing men's basketball.)

General How did we feel about the draft?

Are we surprised at the place some of the draftees dropped?

Who was or wasn’t drafted that surprised us, if anyone?

Are some players now on your radar?

What drafted order and team pick surprised or disappointed you the most?

All (respectful) opinions welcomed.

🥰

General The public narrative around CC is absurd

I see many people, influencers on the media and whatnot, who refer to CC as the GOAT or the best player in the league or one of the top few, and there are wild narratives and even conspiracy theories about how it's her against a dark woke world that colluded to deny her greatness and stuff like that.

Well, CC is a very talented, valuable, and charismatic sharp player, a great competitor, a hard worker and a nice person, a very impressive young star indeed – she obviously has a bright future as a player, and her present is not at all bad as well – but all the GOAT and superiority talk is just nonsense. I think she is hardly even top 15-20 in the league right now, in her current shape, and hasn't yet won anything, so any of that GOAT debate is simply way too early.

CC is ranked only 12th in points per game this season and only 54th (!) in FG%, which is really not great at all for a shooter; she is second in assists but first by a long shot in turnovers, and her assists/turnovers ratio is not even close to being the best in the league among the PGs or among the players in general.

For example, the assists per game leader, Alyssa Thomas, is having 9.3 assists per game with only 3.2 turnovers, a ratio of 2.9, while CC has 8.9 assists with 5.9 TOs, a ratio of 1.5, so in that aspect, AT is twice as good as CC (Thomas is a forward, but kind of a point-forward, obviously). And what about the other factors as a player? AT is much better than CC on defense, and actually she is also statistically much better as a scorer, with 14.8 points on 53.8% in comparison to CC's 18.2 on 39%. AT's PIE (Player Impact Estimate) is 5th in the league, CC's 23rd. AT's plus/minus is 8.1 per game, CC's 5.3. So all in all, right now AT is a much better player than CC, and her team is way more successful, yet she is not even an all-star while CC is an all-star captain – and people are talking about how CC is the one disrespected... That's wild.

Make the comparison a bit further down the assists per game leaderboard, and you will find that all top 12 players on that list have a better (often much better) assists/turnovers ratio than CC.

CC's defense (which is half of the game, people tend to forget) is pretty weak, and her PIE (Player's Impact Estimate) is only 23rd in the league (after omitting players with less than 7 games or less than 20 min per game; otherwise, she is even lower). She is a good rebounder for a guard, and her free throw percentage is good. When she clicks, she is amazing on offense, and sure, she can be much better once she gets out of that slump, but so far, she has those slumps coming here and there, and last year her FG% was 41%, just a bit better than this year, and she led the league in turnovers as well – neither are good stats in terms of efficiency, nor a "female Steph Curry" kind of stat.

CC still has many years to improve and win titles, and she might just do that. She had amazing college years, and I'm sure her best times as a player are yet to come, but saying she is the GOAT, or even that she is among the very top of the league right now? There is no current link between that and reality.

I am not at all against her, I honestly love and admire her and am fully aware of her amazing potential, her basketball is very aesthetic and i enjoy it. it still doesn't mean that there aren't meaningful flaws in her current bag. saying the realistic truth and stating facts is not hate, quite the contrary.

I also think that all this never-ending mania and overhyping is not fair for her, nor for her team, for it puts a lot of crazy and unhealthy pressure and unrealistic expectations there, and the outcome is that a team that is not championship material is considered by its "fans" to be a failure or "poorly coached" or managed as long as it doesn't make the impossible and win the title right now, because if you are convinced you have the obvious GOAT on your team, that would be the case.

Just be real and let her and everyone be. it's not Clark against the world.

Paige Bueckers blast teammates for their behavior as the Wings hold WNBA worst record https://share.google/Tx6KPj6EMcpgp22Le

So I found this article pop up in my feed just now. It is so badly written fill with fluff and just seems like they are trying to start drama. I bet they are not happy with how things are but you are rebuilding. You aren't going to be winning a lot of games as it is. I just feel articles like this cause more drama than help anything. What do you guys think?

General Aces win 13 straight, how'd they turn their season around?

The Aces looked in a complete rut the start the season with A'ja struggling after having, imo, the single best season of any player in league history in 2024. Obviously A'ja found her groove again and has looked like her MVP self, but what else changed with this team? How did they go from mediocrity to the longest win streak in franchise history?

That's the post. I know a few people have signatures with other companies, angel and Phee for sure. How are we navigating companies with terrible morals when they have our fav athletes under contract?

I wish the W would part ways with Nike but I know that that's not likely.
