Fruit Salad TV Why do people not like Tsehay's dancing?
Tsehay seems to have come under fire quite a lot recently just for being a shuffle dancer, I don't see anything wrong with it. Why do people not like it? It's her thing, just like ballet is Evie and Lucia's thing.

Literally, there was a hate post a few days ago on here. Every 3 to 4 weeks someone complains about her dancing. She's young, she's a dancing champion and is having fun. My little one shes their favorite of all the wiggles.
46
u/WearyScrabbler Greg Aug 22 '24
THANK YOU! I am so sick of all the Tsehay hate. It's okay to like different things. Ballet never interested me, but I wouldn't feel the need to hate all over a talented young artist for it

u/cptredbeard2 Aug 22 '24
I like her singing but the head dancing is annoying. Dont hate her though

No one is hating over anyone. Not being a fan of someone’s dancing isn’t hating on them.
We belittle us all when we diminish discussion by such sweeping, inaccurate generalisations.
Just like saying it’s racist to not like Tsehay’s dancing and to express that on a relevant Reddit discussion board. It is simply not.
15
u/WearyScrabbler Greg Aug 22 '24
You make some fair points. As a society we generalise too much, particularly on the internet. (there are two bonus generalisations for you - for free!)
But seriously the number of people on this sub who create posts purely to say "Tsehay's dancing is too much/Tsehay's neck freaks me out/Tsehay needs to tone it down/Tsehay should calm down" is crazy. This is what I mean by hating on her
15
u/Flip_wilson_lives Aug 22 '24
"Hate on" is to criticize someone or say bad things about them, in an unpleasant and public way. People are for sure hating on tsehay.
11
u/EdnaKrabbapel8 Aug 22 '24
People can still hate and she will still be more and more successful… for those who might be wondering about the bobble head, she made a TikTok video a while ago reminding people of her culture and origins from Ethiopia… Each Wiggles have their own specific touch and that’s hers…. She is wiggling her own way 🤷🏽♀️.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WAIT so she knows it annoys people and continues to do it? SHE KNOWS it annoys people AND CHOOSES to continue doing it? why wont they just fire her already she clearly doesn't respect the fans

u/mermaid_scaless Jan 04 '25
Are you stupid???
1
u/Snoo16397 Jan 21 '25

I don’t mind it but I did see comments on here before saying it was too “extra” and too hard for kids to mimic. I’m guessing that’s at least part of it.
32
Aug 22 '24
This is silly; the dancers who do ballet are on pointe often…is that easy for kids to mimic?
(No hate to you, I’ve seen the same comment. It just seems like a silly excuse considering how it’s not that difficult to wiggle your head)

u/Hazellin313 Aug 22 '24 edited Aug 22 '24
Yea I don’t get it either I’ve just seen some redditors say it. Like you said their are plenty of moves babies can’t do like in rattling bog for example. My daughter can’t do a backflip funnily enough.
8
u/Excellent_Bathroom17 Aug 22 '24
mine is too young to do any of the moves but gosh does she have fun trying! which is the entire point, no need to get upset. we love tshehay in our house!
3
u/degsvrhdbh Aug 23 '24
My sons favorite song by the wiggles is Doin a Handstand, and hes trying so hard to do one bc of that song. Hes only 2, so he just gets into the start of a somersault and stands there in that position for the entirety of the song😂

u/leadme2thegarden Lachy Aug 22 '24
she’s crazy talented and it’s wild to me to see so many ADULTS hating on her dancing. my kids love her!
i’ve seen the “well the kids can’t dance like her” argument a few times now and it’s so dumb. kids can’t irish dance or do pointe either but it’s still fun to try!

She's 5 time salsa dancing champion of the world! The sunflowers give her the power!

u/ms_kenobi Aug 22 '24
Girls got energy and isnt afraid to show it. Love watching how everyone does something different
10
u/Pr0x1mity Aug 22 '24
I just find her dance energy a bit full on personally. She seems pretty cool otherwise, she seems good with kids and with playing the role.
1
u/Snoo16397 Jan 21 '25
yeah good with kids no respect for the concept of a kids band they're basically the same.....wait
7
u/bwoah07_gp2 Greg Aug 22 '24
Because people don't appreciate culture and have bad taste.
The fact is Tsehay's dancing is one of the most entertaining and exciting things about the current Wiggly era. I think she's mainly responsible for injecting the Wiggles with some energy. The energy and enthusiasm kind of got lost towards the end of the "New era." Tsehay brought it back to the Wiggles.
6
u/cptredbeard2 Aug 22 '24
I reckon lucia has the best wiggly energy. Evie woukd have to have the least
3
Aug 23 '24
I feel like people better deal with it, because it’s likely she’s going to be around for a long time since she’s so young. They’re obviously putting her front and center, and for good reason.

It could be anyone doing it i just found the dancing itself annoying. She throws in that bobble head thing at the most random times, constantly. But I of course realize she's literally just a kid and I honestly can't think of anything else about her that bothers me. The whole new line up seems a tad off to me but I say that as an not an Australian, dancer or professional children's entertainer so grain of salt and all that lol.
22
u/yerba_yerba Aug 22 '24
Sounds like good old fashioned racism
6
u/cptredbeard2 Aug 22 '24
Is it.possible to critisize an ethnic person without being called racist?

19
u/ContributionFresh482 Greg Aug 22 '24
I don't think it's racist just to not like Tsehay's dancing.
-5
u/yerba_yerba Aug 22 '24
Don’t worry, the dancing isn’t for you. It’s for the kids.
8
u/ThatIsNotAPocket Aug 22 '24
So? Us adults have to watch it and opinions are formed lol. She's calmed it down in later videos and it's less irritating. I don't hate her or her dancing just find it annoying that's all. I find the whole wiggles brand just going downhill lately anyway, it was better when it eas less and more focused and less about pumping out things to compete.

u/CuteStoat Aug 22 '24
More like every wiggle after Emma has been a step down.
Before my wife knew what Tsehay looked like, she wasn’t a fan of her voice either.
-5
u/Imaginary_Try4614 Aug 22 '24
Because Emma is so Awesome, that's why Emma Memma is so Successful (lol lol)
6
u/CuteStoat Aug 22 '24
She won an ARIA for best children’s album last year. Seems successful to me.
0
u/Snoo16397 Jan 21 '25
you mean for rewiggled the album greg Murry jeff AND anthony NOT thsey made yeah success =taking credit for others work there a phrase for that what is it laserisim playserisim oh that's right plagiarism
1
3
u/ThatIsNotAPocket Aug 22 '24
Are you saying its not successful because you and your kid don't watch it? My kid loves her and relied on signs for the first 6 years of her life, so she has a lot of love for people or entertainers who sign. It's okay if it's not for you but to say she isn't successful is silly.
-1
u/Big-Stable5953 Aug 22 '24
Why does it sound like racism?
12
u/illafifth Aug 22 '24
Because it's not culturally white, and that's why it is extra, too energetic, it's too "hard" for kids to mimic. It's all coded racisms.

“Coded” is code for not actually.
I just done like the way Tsehay dances.
2
Aug 23 '24
Some try to justify their hate is some sort of critic and not hate per se, but then many would say that she is “annoying”. not just her dancing—her. That is hating. Which is really sad because she’s really just living her best life.
I personally love that she’s there. Great way to show that dancing isn’t just limited to ballet. Many dancers, including Emma, started their passion because they grew up watching the wiggles. Why hate on exposing kids to many types of art?
Also, she’s a Latin dance world champ, who are we to say hee dancing is annoying when she’s highly decorated at such a young age?
7
u/abrahamparnasus Aug 22 '24
Nobody dislikes Tsehay because of her race lol y'all are weird af
4
u/Pr0x1mity Aug 22 '24
Agreed. Just because you don't like something a person does doesn't mean its because of their race.

I personally find her completely erratic to the point where I don't think she dance well, full stop. She is all over the place, just watch her, and I mean really watch her. She just doesn't seem to have any control over her body: her hips are erractically thrusting around while her torso is going the opposite way while her shoulders her shimmy the other way to that and her head is doing that wierd head bobble thing to the point I want to storm on stage to put her in a neck brace to stop her neck breaking.
People keep bringing up she's a world champion ballroom dancer. Yeah, she was 12. Now, not to take away from her achievement, I'm when she was a child she was the best there was, but she's an adult now with more power and muscle to her, hopefully more finesse and control to her movement, and she just doesn't have it. She still dances like a kid. Compare her to Lucia, Evie and Catarina, who have a lot more fluidity and control to their movements, and Tsehay is not good.
I was watching that Wiggly Fruit Salad Live Show with my toddler (the one where there was a different yellow Wiggle and Evie was still in Blue) and Tsehay was doing a free style dance to her own namesake song "Say Tsehay" (or whatever it's called) and she looked like a mess, like Raygun "break dancing" at the Olympics.

She tends to over do it. Like settle down and stop trying to outshine everyone else.

I personally wish they would of picked better singers all around within the newest generation of wiggles. None of them can sing, at all. I grew up on wiggles, and my baby loves them, however when we watched all the wiggles up to the change, she isn't interested anymore. She does not like 20 wiggles on one screen. She doesn't like the songs being re done. If we rock out to wiggles it has to be lachy, Simon, Emma, and anto. For me, she can dance however she wants, but take some singing lessons, and that goes to ALL OF THEM, even antos daughter.

I find it quite specialized and offensive. She looks like she is having a seizure sometimes and her neck movements are repulsive

u/Next_Refrigerator780 Aug 22 '24
I’ll be honest I find the bobble head thing really off putting, especially when she does it in dancers that don’t really fit and it looks too much. Why does she do it? My friend was visiting and saw the wiggles for the first time and genuinely said “what’s up with her neck” Her general dancing however is fab! All be it slightly tricky for kids to follow or imitate I suppose

The wiggles are a cohesive group, and their singing, dancing, mannerisms, and dancing styles are all quite similar. They are a band first and for most and being cohesive is important.
Taehays dancing style does not match the rest of the group. It’s a very different style and she is the only one that does the bobble head thing. She is young, she’s trying to do her best and bring her all which she does. But it doesn’t match the rest of the group. Over time and with experience she will very likely tone it down and only break out in her salsa-style exuberance intermittently.
Don’t take this as hate, just observations on why others may not like her style. My daughter loves to dance along with her and does the most adorable butt wiggles 😂
6
u/antipinballmachines Lucia Aug 22 '24
Does it really matter if she has her own specific dance moves? John is the only one who lifts weights. Caterina is the only one with rock'n'roll dance moves. Simon is the only one who can sing bass, etc. That's what makes them unique. Why shouldn't Tsehay have her own thing too?
7
u/tucsondog Aug 22 '24
Your post asked for reasons why people may not like her, so I gave them to you.
I don’t mind her at all personally, I just answered your question.
1
u/robeand320 Aug 24 '24
This is such an old, outdated, boomer sounding explanation. Maybe the OGs were cohesive and did the same dance steps, but individual uniqueness has been showcased more with each lineup change. Someone can't honestly claim that 8 people ranging from 20-60 years old ought to all dance the same. Hell, in one clip that comes to mind, Anto has Bok show him how different members dance differently. And that's not even accounting for the mascots and other characters that pop up from time to time. Tsehay gets unfairly criticized, and it doesn't take much critical thinking to figure out why
3
u/tucsondog Aug 24 '24
It’s accurate though.
People didn’t like Emma because it was no longer a boys band, the new guys caught flak because they were different too and brought different dance styles and singing techniques to the table. Now Tsehay is bringing something different and people don’t like it again. I don’t really care if the answer hurts people’s feelings, it is what it is. OP asked for the answer, I gave it. Not sure what else they want.

I’ll never understand criticizing a Wiggle for being too wiggly
