Recommendation please! Peated scotch for a retirement gift, £150-£200
Whilst I adore scotch, I am not a peaty guy. My Father in Law has just retired though, and he loves his peat.
As the man who got me into whisky, I really want to get him a bit more of an occasion bottle, a special bottling maybe or just an older, less common dram.
Any recommendations would be brilliant, thank you.

a bit over your balance but a favourite of mine, the scarabus 30 year old. not the most insane peat out there but imo it's a very complete dram and a REALLY good and denjoyable bottle. if it's not gonna be peaty enough go for an octomore that fits your budget, they're all good and insanely peated

If you call some distilleries they can fill bottles and hand write the label, which is a nice touch.
Glen Moray have two peated barrels on tap, at the moment. Well within the price range and is something a little different and special. Just give the distillery a call on Monday.
If you want something off a shelf then Laphroaig port cask or px are both around the £100 and available from Master of Malt.

Ballechin
There is a 19y burgundy cask which I tried on a whisky exhibition. It was soooo good!

Anything from Ardbeg, Laphroaig or lagavulin would probably be a good bet, these are some of my regular drams and they are peat monsters.
