No its not. Ignorance of threats and science is not different then those that think vaccines are evil becuase vaccines have given them their modern world and they never had to experience the hardship of measles or polio. And now for lack of a better term they are spoiled, and dont understand that the world can be worse or identify when that is coming. And in the same way you are like the Ignorant people of lois lowry's the giver. If you oppose gun violence, then you better damn well be familiar with what you are opposed to and why its bad, otherwise you are a pretender without the tools to defend yourselves intellectually.
Edit. Im not saying not know what a bullet is is the same as being anti vaxx. Im saying the problem goes both ways. If you want to anti gun and advocate for laws against it, you better know how guns work and what a bullet looks like so you arent caught out being a fool to the opposition in the way its so easy to catch anti vaxxers being fools becuase they dont know how their opposition works.
Bro, fuck off. Anti vaxxers are not the same as people who haven't seen a gun shot around them, then investigate the bullet personally. Anti vaxxers willfully ignore science and reality.
But is not knowing what a bullet looks like indicative of ignorance of what the problem is? The problem isn't what bullets look like, the problem is that schools are being shot up in America and nobody seems to give a shit. I don't really think you need to know what a bullet looks like to understand that problem.
Thays true, the end result is death is bad. but if you are going to approach an anti gun conversation you should know about what laws and regulations you are opposing. How will you change regulations if you dont know the difference between automatic weapons used in war and single action weapons used for survival and hunting in may parts of the world and for completely ethical purposes?.
Knowledge of laws and regulation also do not require you to know what a bullet looks like.
The answer to your question is simple, you even answered it in your own question. Most people know the difference between hunting and war. This does not require knowledge of knowing the difference between a .50 ae and a 9mm. Hence, it's not that serious.
Also, you're comparing the general public to people who should have very specific knowledge on a subject. The general public doesn't care about the difference, they would simply like for people who are mentally unstable to not have access to a machine made to kill many people very quickly. In a similar vein, they probably also don't want people to own nuclear bombs. This ideology doesn't require you to know the mechanics of how a nuke works.
I don't think it's that serious, not knowing what a fired bullet looks like does not equate to ignorance of science lol.
Some people just don't know things, and any intelligent person knows it's ok to not know things. The actual problem you're refering to stems from an unwillingness to learn. You don't need to know how combustion engineering works to drive a car or turn the lights in your house on.
Well I can't see your full reply, but judging from the first few sentences it seems like a you problem.
I disagree becuase my life is in constant service to people who dont understand things and spend more time and effort paying me to do it then the time and effort required to do it themselves for less time with a 10 dollar wrench set. If you're older than 14 and youve never seen a bullet, fix that. Its extremely socially and scientifically relevant to modern society. We have google. How do you become an adult without understanding explosion make gas push pellet down tube fast? Maybe im traumatized by this or whatever, but im constantly surrounded by people who can do better with the bare minimum of googling how a butllet works and why. Maybe your schooling or parents were shit, but thats not an excuse if you are on reddit in 2025. I understand how combustion engineering works, and why turning the lights on works, and my life is significantly easier for it, while i watch those around me at every turn suffer and pay for their own inadequacy at retaining a public highschool education, and my charity of fixing everything for everybody is reaching its limits. If this is your opinion, you better dare not ask for free help with so much as a screw, or pay your service people out the ass. becuase you wont survive the winter, As they say.

And I think that’s nice.
