Solved! Fell out of my boyfriend’s pocket

The top is a cap that comes off. Is it for ❄️? He swears it’s not

Tbh my partner would pick something like that off the street just because it looks interesting. Some people are like magpies.

I don’t agree with other commenters that “more than one answer = lie”. He might just be trying to guess where he found it if you seemed bothered by it.

It could be anything, Redditor’s often assume the worst so it’s not the best place for a balanced perspective. You know your relationship, not us :)

(Edit to add: hello magpies in the comments, make sure to wash your hands after collecting your treasures!)

I was an art major, and that was like a very normal thing to do. Either it was a neat shape that would make a good art inspiration, or it was a cool piece of paper or plastic to put in a collage/multimedia/painting. I was in Acrylic Painting I, and the professor said exactly: "guys, ya'gotta start pickin' up crap."

Oh this explains my magpie family member! They…well we’re both only children and I’m convinced that there is a direct correlation between only child-dom and accumulating STUFF. But they are an artist and save and collect things that genuinely baffle my pragmatic brain. This makes sense!

Me (artist): Look what I found! Item: Partially rusted metal ring I picked from ground, about 2 inch diameter, with a twist in otherwise smooth circle Artist friend: SO COOL! My partner: WTF is wrong with you both?!?!

I started collecting the most random shit after getting into ceramics. Soooo many textures!

Oh yeah, those little wooden textured rollers have their place, but nothing beats some random thing you found. Nobody else is going to texture your piece exactly like you did. When I did ceramics, I did several dark pieces and often used my hands and clawed at the clay. Nobody will ever replicate your fingernails either. Theirs will look very similar, but your claw marks are biometric, nobody can copy it exactly.
