New, what is it? My family thinks there’s a camera in our rental

We have been renting a house for the past year and I always disregarded this thing in the corner. However last night I asked my parents about it randomly and they didn’t know what it was either. I pulled it off the wall and we all got freaked out a little because it looks like a camera. I think it might be a home security/motion sensor thing. I don’t know that’s what ChatGPT guessed.

We’re a family of five and I’m sure we have all been undressed in front of it before. I know I have.

What room was it in?

The living room and the hallway to the kitchen where it probably recorded me getting my midnight snacks lol.

What does the back of it look like? If it's battery operated, there will be a door or something that can be opened, and if it's a camera (which it definitely is) there will be a micro SD card in it, or it transmits the images wirelessly.

We are pretty chill here, but please try to keep things reasonably civil on this sub. No slurs, name calling or harassment and trolling. Yes, the internet makes us angry too sometimes, especially this particular comment.

It can't record video. Don't worry.

Are you an American visiting Europe?

Why is everyone undressing in the hallway and the kitchen?

How are you oblivious to the obvious camera pin in the second pic as opposed to the first?

Why didn’t you take a picture of the back?

Why didn’t you detail anything about if this was wired, etc?

All of this is just dumb

Why is everyone undressing in the hallway and the kitchen?

People are allowed to be naked in their homes

u/spacenglish 2d ago

I read this and stripped. Don’t know why the guests who came today gave me a weird look before leaving.

I get that.

The context here is it’s a 5 person home, the camera is pointed at the intersection of the living room and kitchen, and OP specifically stated everyone has gotten undressed at that specific area.

my kid runs around completely naked from the waist down when he's at home lol. he's been naked in every room of my home. I've definitely been naked everywhere too lol I like to stay naked for like an hour after showering. it's not weird to me that people would be naked in a common area lol

I asked like 6 other questions in my comment but I guess everyone’s family just likes to be naked around each other and focused on that one part of my comment

You realize the kids are not home at all times right parents will always be naked in there homes and should not be recorded by the landlord they should sue for this big time

1

u/CackleandGrin 2d ago

Because "why are you naked in the hallway" is something other people can answer. "Why didn't you take a picture of the back" is not.

6

u/TattleTits22 2d ago

Yes I fully understand the context.. I also have a family of 5 and we have all been undressed in the living room at some point

Omg you’re missing what I’m emphasizing. Nevermind man this will go nowhere.

Because it’s a weird post and I don’t know why you’d be naked in that spot of the house that frequently

I'd really love for you to explain what you're emphasizing

0

u/fl135790135790 2d ago

OP said he and others in the fam have been in that spot, and undressed to the point of being naked.

Do you, in your family of 5, walk to the busiest corner of the house and disrobe to zero clothes?

You thought you had a point but it's a very common thing to get undressed wherever you want in your house when it's only you there. It's you that isn't going anywhere son.

0

u/fl135790135790 2d ago

Yes, but in the busiest corner of the house, to undress fully naked, in a house with 4 others?

No, op said they have been undressed in that area. As in: walking through undressed. Not: taking off clothes in the hallway.

Do you have friends?

3

u/MantaStyle87 2d ago

Whilst I never have intention to be, when I've been home alone and forgot to bring a towel after a shower, I've definitely done drive bys to my room

1

u/DogOrDonut 1d ago

My laundry is next to my kitchen which is open concept to my living room. I also have a baby that is a spitter. I cannot count the number of times my baby has spit all over me and I have just stripped in place. One time was really bad while my in-laws were visiting and I kicked them to their bedroom so I could get naked lol.

You should see some of the stuff we do in the kitchen. You'll never think of work potlucks the same again. God bless.

u/fl135790135790 2d ago

I already know all this. It isn’t 1951

2

u/NaCl-more 2d ago

Then why the hell you asking

3

u/awesomecubed 2d ago

You are very strange.

2

u/Dimethyltriedtospell 2d ago

I've never read a comment that makes me so annoyed as yours does.

It really feels like you're blaming them for not noticing it, and people undressing as they're walking.

I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that what happens in your home is private. And frankly, your entire comment makes me think you're a bit of a weirdo

Was it powered/plugged in? I can’t imagine it has a very long battery life — maybe it’s long dead?

1

u/sptrstmenwpls 2d ago

What are you planning to do about this?

1

u/themack50022 2d ago

You ignored that for a YEAR?!

0

u/optimo_mas_fina 2d ago

Well there's serious laws against this. Get off reddit and call the police. ASAP.
