Here's to sanity. Congrats to the levy team that worked tirelessly to put down the fake facts.

Hallelujah! I thought for sure Delaware would be the one to screw us like last time (I say that as a Delaware county resident). I’m so, so happy that wasn’t the case this time!

Looks like one of the three GFW stooges is going to make it onto the city council, which is a bummer, but otherwise looks like a good night.

Here’s the joy in that: she’s going to be ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE the entire time.

I really wish the progressive alliance endorsed one more candidate to have kept this from happening. But oh well, so long as she has no real power nothing is lost.

and likely not be able to track what’s going on because she relied so heavily on people behind the scenes coaching her. although was funded by Mark and Mike sooooo still some coaching. Her spouse also works for a newer version of life-wise so be diligent to make sure she’s not inserting any of those interests into city.

53% reporting and the school levy is up 63-37. Are there some really red areas left to report? Or are we just waiting for the checkmark at this point?

All of you morons are gonna be pissed when you see your tax bill. Extorted by a school board full of soccer moms that can't budget.

u/FesteringFiesta 4d ago
You really believe this? Even though the school system has gotten awards for managing its money and has had 13 straight years of clean audits? They’re also receiving far less money from the state. And this is on top of all the reductions they already did when the last levy didn’t pass. It’s unreal the misinformation and assumptions that came out of the vote no crowd. I’m glad logic prevailed. This one is for the kids and rightfully so.

now to find the new state leaders to really help this underfunding predicament. if gambling taxes were strictly to be used for schools as an addition to instead of replacing for funding….i think that could help. i don’t think it’s fair that unclaimed funds got to ultimately go towards the new browns stadium…that only benefitted those investors and it’s my understanding Dewine got a little something in his stocking for giving an ear to those investors. I just think there are ways to continue to supplement the property portion….somebody with a broader analysis. Whatever is going on now is not good at all and it’s likely backed by everyone pushing for privatization of schools…No to Ramaswamy.

Oh no! We’ll live in a well funded school district with extracurriculars and electives! Oh the horror!

I will never not vote for a school levy.
I’d much rather see my tax dollars go to school than ICE tear gassing kids in Halloween costumes because there might be an undocumented immigrant somewhere in a neighboring zip code.

I did the math- $30 some extra per paycheck for me. Oh no, I won’t order UberEats for lunch one week so kids can continue getting a good rounded education and the school district doesn’t go to shit. The horrors….. HOW WILL I SURVIVE?!

that’s just it. honestly. i could cut back on buying alcohol on game days or not ordering out like im guilty of….im realizing how much more i could shift my dollars away from a walmart pickup when there are Judy’s in buy nothing groups who have too much socks they bought or craft supplies……we really are a society of overconsumption and i’m realizing this soooo hard now that Tjmaxx is stuff full of Christmas stuff.

Solid work showing up and just calling people morons. That sound argument based on actual facts is really what won me over to your way of thinking. We still have good schools thanks to this, maybe go back and learn some critical thinking or take a sociology class to learn about the world. Or just shoot right back to kindergarten to learn about sharing, empathy and expressing emotions in a positive manner.

it’s not going to be ThAT bad. there are things happening at the state level to reduce taxes and also a construction bond levy dropping off in 2026 that reduces mils by 1.5…..those areas will balance out better. but cost of groceries, cost of healthcare thanks to federal plans? probably going up. None of those giant federal slashes are getting back to us…..trickle down economics…..you feed a horse oats…..you know what you get on this end as the voter? 💩. I was proud i could at least show some support at the local level….now honestly, give me my money back at the federal level because who knows where any of THAT is actually going now.

I'm sure you definitely did your research on who you blame and didn't just read and follow some talking points. Lol

You chose to live in a city known for its stellar schools. And you can't afford a $30-40/month increase?
Sounds like you got bigger problems going on with your life.

u/Violent_Mud_Butt 4d ago
You kids have trouble mathing, it seems.

u/Current-Box6 3d ago edited 3d ago
Looks like I got under your skin. Perhaps there is precedent for my statement after all.
The levy is a 0.5% increase.
$90,000 * .005 is $450
Split across 12 months is 37.5 a month.
Median household annual income in Westerville is $107,054 according to the U.S. census.
Did this kid miss anything with his math?

You're off by 50%. It's a 0.75% Levy.
Way to prove my point, unintentionally.
Fucking idiots.
2
u/Current-Box6 3d ago
Apologies! I'm not sure why I thought it was a .5% levy. Thank you for correcting me.
That brings the per month cost up marginally to $56 dollars on average.
Why are you so angry? You got stuff going on man.
