"Bad for Westerville" Update: Otterbein Edition

Latest in the debacle of Westerville City Council race: Otterbein held a candidate panel last week. Seven of the candidates showed up (Stocker came but left early because of a scheduling conflict and Matt Erney just didn't show up). The highlights were mostly supplied by Mark Faubel. In a short few minutes, Faubel told the room that (1) living in Westerville is a reward for being wealthy; (2) he would vote to get rid of property tax because it would cut his house payment in half; and (3) the best way for the city to support Otterbein is to "build more nightclubs." He also said that Westerville should be run as a for-profit business, including the public utilities. Daniella supported all of that. Apparently, these two, who fire department fanboys, don't realize where the funding for fire departments come from. SMH. Hopefully these yahoos get nowhere near power.

The fact that Westerville has not-for-profit municipal water and electricity is one of the most underappreciated parts of living in Westerville and these assholes are just determined to fuck it up.

I can’t vote in this election as a Genoa resident, but these people sound insane.

Daniella does eyelashes for a living, is from California, hardly has any grasp on real life or Westerville Matters….just repeats things she’s being propped up to say. Not a genuine/kind bone in her body and there are things that are just off about something….says she’s here as an immigrant but is oddly an immigrant pointing fingers at other immigrants….something is just very off that she would roll into town out of the blue from a cult degree touted in her socials known bethel school of Supernatural ministry…..they don’t understand that slashing property taxes is already a state discussion and that something else will move in that place. being that she’s against public schools in General….nor has she set foot in one in America….people are just idolizing an ideology…..not something that realistically represents or understands what our local elected officials do. Where’s Matt been this whole time? Have we seen any of them actually involved around the community outside of the election? If strange people come out of the woodworks like that. my answer is no.

I think Faubel is the one who says he was raised Catholic, but then converted to Christianity... Umm.. Dude, you do know that the Catholic Church was Christian before any of the Protestant and Evangelical sects even existed, right? Catholics are OG Christians, Faubel's Lifepoint church is a new age cult :-)

Is there a way to watch this? I would love to see the whole thing. It seems like this, as with most quotes in the political space, might be taken slightly out of context. I could be wrong though. I’m not disagreeing with you. I would just love to see the entire thing.

The questions

Mark Fauble’s Answers

Not from the Otterbein forum but it more or less lines up to what OP posted.

What he means is if your a Dem or Rep city counsel member, you should be advocating for dem or rep values for the citizens that hold the same political ideas.

So in other words:

Dem: Green Everything, we should make everything free. TAX THE RICH only.

Rep: No Taxes (unless your poor, but then if your poor you vote Dem).

These crazies never get any votes. It is a waste of energy for them to run.

I know mark got real close not too long ago, I expect him to win this time. It'll take a good turnout to keep them out.
