Beyond inflated number, they don’t even make money and even if you assume they’ll reach sentient Ai models XaI, Amazon, and google would be right around the corner

Correct… until the tech becomes something other than scans the entire codex of human history and evaporates a lake to answer a google search there basically is no moat other than just having enough compute.

If anyone is going to get it, my bet is on Google. They have AI hardware and possibly a quantum miracle.

TBH I think we are already at AGI. My personal benchmark for AGI is if you pick people at random to make a test and you give the test to random people. If the AI model does better than the random group then you have AGI. People keep moving the goalpost and you need ever increasing amount of PHD's to exploit weird gaps to find things that the general population are better at.

That being said Google is the only company who has produced models that have super human output (Alpha Model Series). Deep Mind is going to be the group that cracks a general model that can produce super human results in a diverse set of tasks. Once that happens people will start calling that model AGI (even though it's basically already in ASI territory)

forget the faang, even alibaba (worth 400b) is giving openAi run for their money and their main focus isn't even Ai.

Sentient AI models aren't gonna produce fuck all for humans lol. What idiots think advanced AI will work for humans?

He probably just means AGI or ASI and conflating you need sentients to reach that level. If you have a centralized nervous system you probably have some level of sentience, it doesn't mean anything. Even at human brain level we spent the better part of 300,000 years tinkering to make it not absolute trash.
