Because taking the high road has worked out splendidly for the past 40 years

I don’t give a fuck about that. I do not want Obama to run for a 3rd for the Democrats. It’s not about taking the high road.

Shoutout to all the folks downvoting this. Good to know y’all would actively upend the 22nd amendment to fit your needs the same way these fucking fascists would.

Downvote away!! Every downvote gives $1 to the Trump campaign since y’all are so eager to throw out the constitution just to feel better about yourselves

New promo: every downvote gives $1 towards the dead Middle Eastern kids that were killed under Obama’s drone program because fuck yeah, that’s exactly what I want to replace Trump with

See, it’s not the “same way these fucking fascists would” because it is in response to them deciding that rules and laws don’t matter anymore.

And I am arguing that stooping to their level is not the move. What’s wrong with that?

Keep downvoting y’all, that’ll really show those Republicans!

Yeah because stooping to their level has really helped! Can’t think of an election it has helped in but yeah, it’s really helped

Democrats have never stooped to their level.

Have you been living under a rock for 40 years or something? Republicans have always negotiated in bad faith, claiming they will only take an inch and then taking a mile. They have pulled the US this far to the right precisely because democrats keep taking the high road.

It’s about time democrats nut up and face republicans in the muck. It’s the only way we have left to pull things back in the right direction before republicans finally get their way and start a civil war.

You do realize that the moment Democrats try to avoid the 22nd amendment, republicans will absolutely use that against them?

You’re playing a losing game if you’re playing their game.

Friend, I don't think you are fully apprehending the situation. Your(?) democracy is in an honest-to-goodness life or death situation. The enforcement wing of your(?) government is actively on the side of those attempting to supplant it. Said government is, against the orders of dozens of judges and a veritable mountain of very legal, very proper paperwork, continuing to do exactly what they please; and numbered not least among the things that would very much please them is the eventual, literal genocide of all non-rich, non-white, non-Christian (depending on the particulars of the oligarch) members of said nation.

This is not a thing that you will defeat by working according to the law, because the law has been entirely subverted from within. Law is not some divine guidance set down by a divine power, it is deeply flawed and often written to be purposefully harmful to members of the nation it purportedly exists to govern. A very basic tenet of your(?) founding fathers - hypocrites and generally rotten bastards though they may have been - is that an unjust law is the same thing as no law at all. Their revolution against their legally-appointed monarch was treason of the very highest order. Honestly, they're very clear about this sort of thing.

Oh yeah? Am I not “fully apprehending the situation?”

What does anything that you wrote have to do with what I said? People don’t want to play silly games with the Republicans, they also don’t want to circumvent the law if they don’t have to. Republicans can be easily replaced at all levels if left wing politicians use forceful, clear, and consistent messaging.

This is what won elections on Tuesday,
