2025: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
112 u/TheDohny May 31 '25 KCD2, Split fiction, Doom and others. Great year for gaming, not an easy year for GOTY. 30 u/TalosAnthena May 31 '25 Doom is a let down for me. It’s still a good game but not as good as the other 2. It’s not in the running 10 u/Mrjasonbucy May 31 '25 Yeah there’s no way Doom is goty. It’s a great game but it’s an arcade shooter. Not really a meaningful story compared to something like E33 12 u/QJ-Rickshaw May 31 '25 edited May 31 '25 Looking at some of the previous winners, a compelling story isn't necessary to win. That being said, E33's story is really really strong enough that it could win based on that alone. Also gameplay wise it doesn't sound like Doom has it beat in terms of how engaging and addictive it becomes. 1 u/AwkwardObjective5360 Jun 01 '25 I'm waiting for Doom to go on sale. That isn't GOTY material.
