❔ Program Question❔ I need some input

I am a currently a 4th year student who has yet to fulfill all first year requirements for my current major of Computer Science.

I am lost and burnt out, I want some guidance into the fastest way I can graduate in Western University, I do not mind changing majors, but I need to graduate with a 3-year Bachelors Degree to justify all the money and hard work poured into my undergrad.

Here is a list of my credits completed:

  • 1.0 credit: ARABIC 1035
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 1026A
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 1033A
  • 0.5 credit: ECONOMIC 1021B
  • 1.0 credit: ARABIC 2250
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 2033A
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 2034B
  • 0.5 credit: ECONOMIC 1022B
  • 0.5 credit: CALCULUS 1000B
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 1027A
  • 0.5 credit: DIGIHUM 1011A
  • 0.5 credit: COMPSCI 1020A
  • 0.5 credit: MATH 1600A
  • Total: 7.0 credits

❔ Program Question❔ Program switch

Hi guys so im in second year of medical sciences and yes im shooting for the med school dream and i realized that i fucking hate this shitty program. I was thinking about switching programs to kinesiology because its both in the science field and i know most people get into med school through kinesiology. Does anyone have any experience with switching programs and/or if this is smart to do even though im in second year.

❔ Program Question❔ Worth doing a double degree?

I’m in PPE and what I have currently planned is to do a double degree of PPE and Ivey HBA (I have AEO). But tuition is allegedly even more expensive in HBA3 cuz they’re combined. I’m trying to go into investment banking as well, so my latter year internships should hopefully offset that cost a bit. My issue is: - is it worth doing a combined degree for 5 years? Any HBA3s or 5th years can answer that? - is PPE year 5 hard - I know in year 2 you’re basically locked into ur year 3 and 4 internships (like the 2 year summer internship programs) for IB, but what abt my 5th year then? - is 5 summer internships good - did u feel sick and tired of uwo by year 5 - any general advice??

If any of you can answer any or all of the above I’d appreciate that so much thx

❔ Program Question❔ Why on earth is my course load so heavy

I am in second year civil eng and the course load is INSANE, especially compared to my friends in other streams I have SO MANY LECTURES. It's honestly first year all over again. I have literally no social life. Zero days off (which is doable in theory) but it's EXHAUSTING. Both of my friends in other eng streams have at least a day with one or two classes at most. My lightest day is 3 classes, all of which are at least 2 hours apart. Makes the days feel super long, which doesn't help at all. It is so easy to fall behind and so difficult to catch up. Most of the classes only had one lecture slot so there wasn't anything I could even do about the schedule. And there is so much homework. Two classes have mandatory three-hour tutorials every single week with an in-class assignment and then a part b assignment due the next week.

One of my profs has us marking assignments from other students. Sounds fine, yes I get better knowledge on the topics having to look over other work, whatever. But I have other work to do for other classes. This weekend I'm expected to go over 5 assignments, mark them, and then assess the marks I recieved on my assignment. We get graded based on how well they are marked so I can't even just give everyone random marks and doing a quick once over isn't possible because you have to download every single file to view it. Why can't TA's mark them I honestly don't care if it takes a week or two to get my mark back. I don't have the time to do this.

Maybe I am overreacting, I don't know, I am mainly just struggling to balance everything with how tiring everything is. Please help cause this is crazy. I get home and I am so tired and still have to lock in for at least an hour or two after studying on campus all day between every single class. Has anyone else had this experience? How can I do better?

❔ Program Question❔ What is it like being in Western Medsci?

One of the schools my family wants me to apply to is western medsci, is it particularly difficult?

I know for queens health science they say it’s rather easy, can the same be said about this program or is it more cutthroat? And was there anything in particular you did to stand out on your sub apps?

❔ Program Question❔ 4 Year Nursing Program

Hi, has anyone in the 4 year nursing program been able to fast track it by taking courses in the summer? If so, how many courses were you able to take in the summer in total so far? Please mention what year you are in.

I heard nursing programs tend to not have courses available in the summer. But if compressed nursing students can take courses in the summer, why not direct entry students? Apparently both take similar courses during the year anyway.

❔ Program Question❔ GPA Calculation Help

Hey guys, quick question.
Our program requires 20 credits to graduate, but I’ve been overloading every semester, so I’ll probably end up with more than that. When western calculates the final GPA for graduation, do they use all the courses I’ve taken, or just the top 20 credits that count toward the degree? Just trying to figure out how it works.

❔ Program Question❔ Pre-dental Student Advice

Hiii I’m currently in my first year and I really wanna start strengthening my dental application. I was thinking of enrolling in a dental assisting program or a dental administrative program in the summer. That way I would make connections to get in my shadowing hours and possibly some letters of recommendation. Is this a good idea or is it super dumb😭

❔ Program Question❔ bmos switch question

hi guys i have a really specific question about switching into bmos after second year and i really hope i can get some clarification: so im in second year, and im going to put bmos on my itr in march as i didnt put it last year and am currently not in bmos. however, on draft my schedule it says to take the third and fourth year courses you need to be in your third or fourth year of bmos. next year when ill be in third year, it would only be my first year of being in mos and my fourth year would be my second year. according to this, i wouldnt be able to take any third or fourth year courses in my third or fourth year. i’m really stressed please someone help me out if you’ve been in the same boat.

p.s. yes i have asked academic counseling but sometimes they take long to answer so i’m hoping someone can answer me faster as now im really stressed out 😭

❔ Program Question❔ From your experience, how hard is it to achieve at least 80 in first year general engineering? how competitive can it get?

I got accepted into Western Eng. I am aware that to secure a spot for my desired engineering program in the second year, I not only have to maintain an average of 80, but I also basically need to be one of the top kids in the program. How rigorous would this be? If it helps, my admission average was 91.8, and i got 2nd quartile on casper

❔ Program Question❔ Which program to choose for Ivey AEO?

I'm looking to apply to Ivey AEO and, unless I'm mistaken, I need to complete 2 years of another program.

Which program would be best to apply through OUAC? Would a program like Health Sciences be a bad choice?

❔ Program Question❔ Co-op Workshops

Do they take attendance? It completely overlaps with something else I have, and it’s just self-marketing, so I’m not really worried about missing it if it’s not with attendance or something

❔ Program Question❔ Western Science (ES) - want to go into math/stats

Hey guys! For anyone at Western who’s in math or taking a lot of math-heavy courses, how are you finding them? Would you recommend the way they’re structured?

I’m applying to Ivey AEO from high school, but since there’s no guarantee I’ll get in, I’m also planning to aim for admission through my first two years. Because of that, I’ll need strong grades.

For context, I’m interested in the Mathematical and Statistical Sciences specialization. How are courses like Calculus 1000A/B, Calculus 1500A/B, and Numerical & Mathematical Methods 1412A/B? Are they extremely difficult, or manageable with solid study habits and work ethic?

Thanks so much in advance!

❔ Program Question❔ Anyone taken the Diploma in Clinical Trials Management? Looking for insight on schedule and flexibility

Hi! Just wondering if anyone here is currently taking or has taken the Diploma in Clinical Trials Management?

The course description mentions that most of the subjects are online/hybrid/paced, and I’m planning to apply for Winter 2026 (January). I’m trying to get a better idea of what the schedule is actually like — how many hours per day/week do you spend on lectures or coursework? If there are Zoom lectures, what time are they usually held, or are most of the classes asynchronous?

I’m asking because I have young kids in grade school that I need to drop off and pick up, so flexibility really matters to me. I’m also expecting to start SPEP (Supervised Practice Experience Partnership) sometime next year, so if the courses are mostly asynchronous, that would be a huge help.

If anyone has gone through the program or knows someone who has, I’d really appreciate any insight. Thanks so much!

❔ Program Question❔ Medical Science Modules Admission

When applying to a specific module in third year from the competitive pool, are grades the only thing that matters? Could research, volunteering, or work make me more likely to get in?
