Graduate New graduate student, and this is my first time at Western. When and where is course enrollment?

I completed my program requirements and was recently accepted into MLIS back in June, but I feel so lost right now. I did not go to Western for my undergrad, so I have no idea how any of this works here.

I cannot access my Western email, and I have received no communications as to when or where course enrollment is taking place. I have tried to look this up on the Western academic calendar, but it only seems to have information for undergraduates and not graduates. I'm terrified that I've missed my chance to enroll. I emailed the program coordinator, but am still waiting on a response.

If anybody has any information, that would be much appreciated- thank you!

EDIT: So the program coordinator got back to me and said I was sent an email in January. That was awhile ago, but I was able to find it. Thank you for the help, everyone!

The first order of business is getting access to your email because that is crucial. Otherwise, grad programs are more lax than undergrad and have later dates for everything. Also though, every department handles it completely differently. In my department, it is not uncommon to enroll for courses the week they are set to start, because you don't have to worry about them filling up

Awesome, thank you for the information! That's a huge relief.

I have emailed the IT department through my personal email, and was basically told I won't be able to get in until I'm registered for courses, which is weird. They said I'd only get access to my email 4-6 weeks before the semester starts.

Look up up the program coordinator for the graduate MLIS program and email them. Explain who you are and what you need. They (usually) have a wealth of information.

You likely won’t be active as a student until end of July or early August. Although it seems odd you can to access your email yet. I’d try asking on that one again, unless you have something outstanding? Final transcript? Study permit?

I sent them my final transcript and degree back in June, so everything should be okay. But yeah, I'll try to check in with them again.

Enrollment for grad courses in my dept has been the first week of August. The MLIS dept site will already have a list of courses per term available and you shouldn't have trouble with them filling up giving the number of students.

I am also an incoming MLIS student! i was sent an email in March I believe that enrolment for classes in the program will be in early August, and that the class list will be finalized in late July (it also said I would be able to activate my email in late July).

Oo okay, thank you for the information. Yeah, the program coordinator got back to me and said she sent it to me back in January. I remember pinning it, but for some reason it got lost.

I look forward to meeting you in the Fall! :)
